It's the economy...and nothing else.

The tax return issue matters.
Bain outsourcing jobs matters.

But Romney, the Superpac's and the RNC are hitting back HARD on the economy being Obama's fault. And I believe that is what really matters to most Americans.

"Romney might be hiding something, but he can get me a job." Feeding your family will trump a Cayman offshore account EVERY time.

So we need to show the facts:

Obama has created more jobs per month than ANY President, even St Ronnie.
Romney's policies gave us 2008 - want to go back there?
Obama has lowered small business taxes 19 times. Which creates jobs supposedly.
We are ALL paying the lowest tax rate in XX years.
Pass the President's Jobs bill! Do-Nothing-Boehner.

We need these ads to run alongside the negative ones. Just my opinion - and I'm anxious to see some polling.

Going after Romney and Bain will certainly not be enough but I doubt that it will be the entirety of his strategy. I imagine that what is going on right now is an attempt to remove Romney's main strength and building a contrast between Romney's past history at Bain and what Bain does and what President Obama wants to do with the economy, what his vision for the economy would be for a second term. He's got plenty of positive accomplishments to run on and even his economic record is nowhere near as horrible as it has been portrayed by Romney/GOP but people ARE hurting and looking for answers. The main problem is that Republican "solutions" are going to take us backwards to the Bush era ("on steroids&quot and the Democrats can't get any of their solutions enacted because of the GOP House and GOP Senate minority. Hopefully, people will think about their vote in November and go with President Obama again (and put more Dems back in Congress) if they hope to get anything done. The GOP has essentially paralyzed our Executive and Legislative branches of government to the point that nothing meaningful can really get done anymore.

3. It just seems that Romney is now framing the President - similar to Obama framing Romney

A positive thing is the the Dems seem to be united, and can launch a positive "Obama really has done a lot with very little" type of meme.

We all remember 2008 - it was (and still is) a global crisis. But the US economy is actually doing well - in relation to the world. That says a lot.

I imagine there will be a coordinated effort: Reid with legislation to create jobs (that R's will block), The stump speech, the tax cuts for 98%.

and explain the accomplishments of the last 3 1/2 years before it's all over. But it's probably a good idea to wait until the election is closer. Voters tend to have short memories.

That Obama is running slightly ahead of Romney and has a good Electoral Map already makes me feel better about the state of the election at the moment.

4. "Romney's policies gave us 2008" - that's important, and the Bain and tax return stuff helps us

get that across. It neutralises the idea that Romney has some amazing new policies that would be different from what Republicans have been advocating for years - he was just a vulture capitalist, out to maximise his profits at the expense of the jobs in the firms he took over, and getting to keep loads of it through the Bush tax cuts. And now he wants further tax cuts - so that he and his kind can have more years of tax rates of 14, 13 or even 0%.

6. We should be railing about the jobs bill that our obstructionist congress wouldn't pass!

Also, the president isn't just running against RMoney. He has to run against their whole backwards philosophy.
