2. A couple of the statements on the link in the OP by Republicans that jumped out at me ...

Former Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite (R-Fla.) :

Michele means well but she sometimes doesn't let proven facts get in the way of a possibility of having national television coverage. Michele would be better served by having competent staff to check out these accusations before she goes out there sometimes appearing to be a "bomb thrower".

Jeffrey Taylor Managing partner, U.S. Government Relations Intl., LLC :

As a conservative Republican, I’m finished with U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann and, frankly, I now have to question the judgment of the other four members of Congress who oddly decided – hey, let’s call into question the patriotism and loyalty of an aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton because of her relatives!

There is no doubt that the underlying topic of the letter – Obama Administration policies regarding the Muslim Brotherhood – is a legitimate and serious one; so one has to question why these five members desperately needed to overreach and drop in the purely gratuitous paragraph about Ms. Huma Abedin.

POLITICO asks, is this a form of McCarthyism. Of course it is. Ms. Bachmann claims that her letter has been distorted. For anyone who can read at a fourth grade or better level, it is impossible to distort the meaning of the letter as it pertains to Ms. Abedin.

By her logic, I have to assume that any member of Congress who is related to a person in prison or who has been in prison should not be trusted with a federal government job, should resign from Congress – and, most certainly, should NEVER be allowed to sit on any of the congressional intelligence committees.

More at link in the OP

And I love this one! Don't know if he's a Republican or Democrat (?):

Ross Baker Political scientist, Rutgers University :

I'm not certain that Rep. Bachmann, if accused of McCarthyism, would even know what the term meant.

Anyway be sure to go to the link in the OP to read them all

I don't go to the page very often - but when I have in the past there is usually a even amount of Democrats and Republicans that post an opinion, but apparently not on this issue.

5. There's a thread that's more to the point, I think. This is what I think:

From this thread about Bachmann's supporters:

Michele Bachmann’s hateful cronies

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002989309

Note her supporters waxing eloquent about the Patriot Act and the DHS. They are probably still hoping to continue to bring in the bacon for their biggest supporters. And I also think that all of these stories came up very conveniently as Obama was trouncing Romney and the Bain stories were starting to get mainstream attention. I think this is news is about diverting attention from that. Because Bain/Romney own the attack dogs of media. JMHO...

7. I say it's about the money, just like the Tea Party was. Those funding these crooks expect a return.

I know it takes some of the excitement out of it, but even if they are nuts, the ones who pay them are using them. To me, it's all about the end result, the goal. That's why Obama is pushing so hard for disclosure to see who beneifts from it.

That is where we need to attack, the ones who fund the clown circus that on other levels, we must deal with at the same time.
The worst thing about this is that Democrats have to waste time dealing with these nuts in the Congress making up these spectacles for political gains, trying to smear Obama and his entire administration. Fast and furious? All but forgotten. just one a series of parades.

And Gohmert isn't doing doing a very good job. He coudln't control himself, he spilled when he kept on trying to drag Obama's name in. Obama is the target, not CAIR, not the MB, not Muslims. The game is big.
