Tea Party Congressman Calls McCain ‘Numb Nuts’ For Criticizing Bachmann’s Anti-Muslim Witch Hunt

Tea Party Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) lashed out at Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for criticizing him and his fellow conservative members for suggesting that a senior aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. Gohmert is part of a small group of five Republican members, led by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), who are demanding an investigation into whether Clinton deputy chief of staff Huma Abedin is connected to the group.

“Normally you don’t go blast somebody on the floor who is a colleague on the same side of the aisle unless you touch base with them,” Gohmert complained during an appearance on the Dennis Miller Show on Tuesday, referring to McCain’s denunciation of the group’s allegations as “nothing less than an unwarranted and unfounded attack.” The fiery Texan then launched into a personal attack against McCain, calling him “numb nuts” and suggesting the Muslim Brotherhood is now influencing him too:

GOHMERT: Well, it’s obvious that John McCain didn’t even read the letter because of what he said in accusing Michele and us of making these horrible accusations. There were five letters and there were many things that are stated that are facts in each letter. And I wish some of these numb nuts would go out and read the letter before they make these horrible allegations about the horrible accusations we’re making. But we also know that John McCain himself had said back in the early stages of stuff going on in Egypt that he was, in his words, “unalterably opposed to helping the Muslim Brotherhood.” Well, obviously the unalterable person has been altered, so he is okay with it now.

I hope the GOPers devour each other.

Never thought I'd feel like sticking up for John McCain.

to get even with these greenhorn teabaggers in some way. It will be interesting to watch. Tampa might be as big a goat-rope as Chicago '68, but with the riots occurring inside the convention.

"Numb nuts?"

Whatever happened to decorum in political discourse?

But we should both apologize for making this kind of unjust comparison. Let me go first. I humbly apologize, to all junior-high school kids, and all school-children, kids in general, including screaming 6-month old babies, for even suggesting that your level of maturity might even be remotely comparible to that of a Tea Party Republican Congress member!

They are much more serious than those about the lady in question here. The Tea Party is so screwed up with their right wing randian religion, they shoot in a circle.

They've got John Haggee claiming America will be wiped off the face of the Earth if we don't support Israel because of the Jews, God's Chosen People, as he says.

And she married one of God's Choesen, so where does that leave the accusation that Weiner's wife is a Muslim terrorist?

I'd really love it if some of the Texans would write to Gohmert and ask him about the Grover accusations. C'mon, you know that they all signed the pledge for him. And that guy is the real terrorist destroying the country... For what, my pretties?

Not because he's married to a Muslim, but if that can be said about the lady that's been threatened, why not Grover? Why is it hands off this loathesome creature?

I think the attack on McCain was based on love of Grover and not God, since these guys wouldn't know God if he walked up and talked to them.

Oh.. I think that they'll need have padded folding chairs at the GOP Convention. Funny, they're already making sure protesters can't get NEAR the Convention, when I think the inside is where things will get interesting.

Wonder when Joe Wilson will scream YOU LIE!! During Romney's speech? Or maybe McCains?
