Yes, I know it's nasty concept but everyone here well knows the type of campaign the g.o.p. is running and has run since Rove came on the national scene.
Some enterprising Dem pol backed with unsourced funds could easily run ads pointing out to fundamentalist xtians what they will find to be the most egregious tenets of mormonism. I firmly believe that many of these voters will find it extremely difficult to vote for Romney precisely because of his mormonism. And, no, I don't think they'll be voting for Obama either. They would either go 3rd party/independent (I don't know of anyone out there now who they would like) or opt out of voting in the Presidential race. Either way, it benefits Obama.

(3,615 posts)It has sullied our political system, possibly beyond repair. And most here know that their is a double standard applied by msm toward Democrats and Republicans. Republicans have gotten away with the Rove style of character assasination, lies, deceipt, etc. My sense is that Dems doing the same thing would get way more press coverage with "how could they do such a thing" attitudes.

(6,229 posts)opposition to the use of such tactics. That's the "wonderful" thing about citizens united: anyone with the resources to do so can say whatever the hell they want. The candidate does not have to "agree with this message." If such ads as mentioned above were run and Romney still wins, I'd lay it squarely with manipulation of digital voting machines. Who's counting the votes any way?
