I saw something this morning ...

On fox"news" no less ... that got me to thinking.

This tax filing thing will heat up again with the announcement of romney's VP pick.

Whoever they pick will cause problems:

A Portman pick will open romney up to "He has released several years worth of tax filings, why won't romney do the same?" questions.

A Pawlenty pick will raise the same question; but also, will highlight the disparity in taxes paid by the wealthy. The release of the, far from wealthy, Pawlenty's filings will show this with the one year romney has released.

Same thing with Rubio.

This thing just ain't going away.

He's already acknowledged that there's stuff in there that he thinks could harm him politically. Having us trying to guess at what might be in them will probably be more harmful to his campaign than what's actually in them (perhaps). Also, his refusal to release and his wife's pointed announcement that "us people" won't be getting any more out of them will damage his image, as well as buttress concerns about his transparency, which is already rather questionable (i.e. hard drives).

Weren't those hard drives state property? Did they buy all of the state computers with personal funds? Why would the state sell them?

the whole thing seems pretty weird to me. I guess if you have enough money and power, the sky's the limit?
