Arkansas Democrat's cat killed, painted with "liberal" - meets defination of a "Hate Crime"

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/23/us-dead-cat-arkansas-idUSTRE80M26Z20120123

This should be prosecuted as a Hate Crime. It meets the formal definition of a Hate Crime, which includes "defacing or destroying property" (domestic pets are considered by the law to be mere "property&quot

But the destruction of this cat was politically motivated violence, including politically motivated destruction of property; wonder if the prosecutor has seen this angle.

But, legally, so what?

The guy who went on the Unitarian Church gunning spree was politically motivated too, and was also committing a hate crime.

The mofo who killed those in the Unitarian Church wasn't prosecuted

for a hate crime, so this mofo shouldn't be either?

They should BOTH be prosecuted and yes, we all know

killing people is worse than killing cats..Is that what you need to hear?

You seemed to be objecting to the cat case being prosecuted as a hate crime because it was politically motivated. My point was that the political motivation should not interfere with its hate crime status.

So, like, ease up there a little with the vitriol if you don't mind.

No problem with easing up on the vitriol...Sometimes

we don't communicate as well as we think

we do...Your earlier post, for instance,

sounded a tad vitriolic to me....

Anything you do no matter how vile, hateful, bigoted or even deadly is ok if you are an evilangelical, conservative, Republican or a Republican supporter. There is a double standard or wink wink atmosphere in this country. You can kill someone through policy or even directly. The media will support you and the general public will usually say nothing. Republicans are just immune.

However if you even protest or get in the face of one of these mafia goons, then you will be brutally arrested.

God help anyone who harms even a hair on the head of one of these shitheaded bastards. You will be lynched, drawn and quartered.

In the future if a person is in trouble or in danger and I find out they are a Republican I will just let them be. I will NOT help them in any way. I am a veteran and had I to do it all over again I would NOT serve with a Republican. Every one of these bastards can go straight to hell as far as I am concerned.

That was what surprised me.

I did not realize that destruction of property or vandalism - where person was hurt - could be prosecuted as a hate crime.

I feel that killing a pet is worse than "destruction of property", but the law considers pets property.

Anyway, the point is that this COULD, legally, be prosecuted as a hate crime.

Hate crimes laws define target groups or categories of target groups.
