Wealthy Justifiably Scared – What Will Masses Do When They Have Nothing More To Lose

Last edited Tue Jul 31, 2012, 03:35 PM - Edit history (2)

Many continue to believe that the Occupy Wall Street movement was just a movement in passing. While many in the middle class do not believe it was very successful, there is something that I know. The reason you see the inordinate amount of money in this election and the reason many in the wealthy class, Democrat or Republican are supporting Mitt Romney overtly or covertly is fear.

Many of the wealthy have been accumulating capital not by producing more, not by being innovative, not by doing anything of societal value, but by manipulating markets and politicians. They have created financial instruments that simply make money off of money. They have used this capital to misinform Americans to vote against their own interest.

Every year middle class America see a decline in their income and their wealth as a select few reap the rewards of said pilfer. Sadly our current media is unable and unwilling to tell the story. They have allowed some of our wealthy (the Plutocracy) to create narratives that pit middle class against lower middle class, lower middle class against the poor, and so on.

This will last for only so long. Subverting the vote, marginalizing the poor and stifling access to progress will eventually cause destabilization. This is not conjecture but fact. Humans react the same when under the same pressures. While in many countries the citizens remain meek because of culture, one should remember that Americans are armed.

The article below is interesting because there is a billionaire who gets it.

very idea.

I have been campaigning against ethanol for a few months now & one of my points was

All middle east revolutions were not a rejection of dictatorships, but hungry, mad people pissed about food prices.

Then I added how lucky they & their pig friends were to have nice white suburban kids to beat up.
And just wait till well armed, straight shooting urban poor people (non anglo types) w/ lots of guns will be joining up soon. I hope you are ready!!!!

The phone went silent & white folk were scared, I mean real scared.

If i was screaming threats, real bloody ones, I could not have scared them more.

I had a tuff time sounding concerned for their safety & not laffin out LOUD!

I love the French, they executed the whole upper class, good for them.

Notice u do not hear a lot of loud conservadork crapola coming from the "french elite", maybe they know better.

I think that the wealthy are not just fearful of the growing poor in our country and around the world but that they also know (admittedly or not) that with Climate Change a reality that they are preparing for the worst of both a financial and environmental collapse.

Rather than address any of these issues they are accumulating as much wealth as they can to increase their level of security. They really don't get it-that their wealth really won't protect them in any long term scenario. They can only think short term about this (one reason they aren't working to mitigate global warming). Not their problem- they think.

That is what I don't get about Romney's businessman claim. He never ran a business. He just bought and sold businesses. Was he ever actually involved in running ANY of those businesses that he bought and sold?

Politics in this country is just shy of bloodsport, except for the so far rare occasions when it goes full blown. The division and dischord we see everyday is not accidental. You cannot steal a reasonably united people blind, so the division exists, is promoted and serves its purpose already. If they can keep us focused on arguing, as Dean put it, on "God, Guns, and Gays" they can plunder our pension funds, cut our salaries, and benefits at their leasure.

The real problem is what the masses will do. There are many reasons to believe that it will be anything but unity of purpose. The chances of fratricide among the 99% is dangerously high. The most dangerous thing about Occupy is not the threat it poses to the 1%, but the real posibility the militia types show up well armed to shut it down. As long as Occupy stays small and ineffective, it is likely safe. If we win this next election and particularly if we win it large, there is no telling.

Don't think it could happen? I pray that you are correct, but I don't think so.
