a crowd like that. Secondly you have to care enough to do it all over again after you just finished inside. You have to be willing to work your ass off every day to win. If it is not apparent who really wants this job bad enough to work this hard and who either expects it is their turn or thinks they can win on experience or name recognition then I don't know how anyone with any real deep desire to do right by us wins.

(90,335 posts)... the Reich wing memes don't work on those who can tell they're coming already.
Hillary isn't focusing on getting 08n12348n23 million people in a standium but talking to people on a personal level
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)as is Bernie. He talks to people on a personal level also, but talking to just a select few deprives so many others of being included.
I spoke to Hillary on a personal level. It was at a very exclusive multi million dollar home of a Dem fundraiser. I worked for them. She was very gracious, there were about 40 very wealthy people there for a very private dinner, cost them several thousand dollars.
The staff who worked there didn't get much chance to speak to her, nor did she reach out to them.
Charlie Rangel otoh, also attended one of these functions and rather than spend his time among the select few there, he spent his time talking to the staff, me included.
He really was interested in what we thought. Hillary seemed more comfortable among the wealthy donors.

(4,775 posts)My claim is she is a corporatist, a more defining feature of her politcal alliances than that she calls herself a Democrat. I don't need to demonize her, her policies are not what I support, nor are her ways of campaigning.

(16,916 posts)Hillary is certainly not evil, but neither is she beneficent.
Neither hot nor cool, she's tepid. She seeks compromise as an end, not as the means to an end. Shes a talented manager, with a strong resume. What she is not, is a leader.
Her strengths may get her elected, but she is not, and will not be the President that we need -- her strengths dictate that conclusion.
She is the status quo candidate. She won't be tossing any carts, but instead will try to manage her way through the next 4 years. Like Obama, she will try to reach out across the aisle. Like Obama's, her hand will be met with a slap, with their fist, or with their middle finger. Her skills will not serve her, or us.
Hillary's support is wide but thin. She is not exciting, and she has no coat tails.
None of this is "demonization" --it's just myth busting.

The one on one thing is a good excuse though. It's working for her.

(18,791 posts)a plate meetings with billionaires AND the invitation ONLY chit-chats with a handful of persons...
And look 25,000 voting Americans in the eye.
Of course, she will not do it! She has no interest in doing it! She isn't interested in us little people as she thinks she's got it all locked up as Ms. Inevitable.
Well we little people have a big, fat surprise coming her way on voting day.
Say Buh-Bye Hill!

(27,247 posts)She had been First Lady of my state for 12 years, but when she and Bill came back to the state for a visit in August 1993, she didn't seem too interested in mingling with us local yokels who were waiting outside the Springdale airport terminal to greet them. Bill, on the other hand, went straight from his plane to the crowd and shook as many hands as he could.
