So What Do They Spend the Billions in Dark Money On during Campaigns?

New game for people who OPPOSE CItizens United:

Identify the expensive TALKING POINTS that the money allowed into our elections by Citizens United buys.

Today's Citizens United talking point?

BERNIE HAS A TEMPER!

I hope they paid a lot for this one!

I love to see the Super Pacs and the smear campaigners wasting Corporate Money.

Way to diffuse their talking points, is to identify them and make sure to spread them around so people who haven't already done so, know them when they see them.

I've seen this one so often today it makes me think they are really, really worried about the upcoming Debate.

Slapping labels on things has been a feature of dirty politics for a long time.

Now it's our turn.

Each time a Citizens United talking point is identified, just label it: 'Corporate Funded Talking Point! End Citizens United!'

Bernie is the ONLY candidate in this race who agrees with the majority of the American people.

Citizens United must be overturned!

A vote for Bernie is a vote against Citizens United!

Oh, that is my point btw!

3. An issue which I hope will play prominently in the first and all debates.

The deceitful folks who have united in thinking they have the God-given right, these corporations and extremist Christians, to buy and bully their way into government have to be "enlightened" about how completely wrong they are.

P.S. I believe Bernie is not the only candidate who believes this.....they all do.

4. Well, I judge people's commitment to an issue by what they DO, not by what they SAY.

Of course the all SAY they agree it must be overturned, because that is what the Majority of the PEOPLE say in polls. In fact it is now a top issue for voters according to polls, approx 80% of those polled say that for them it is a top issue.

But Sanders is doing what they all should be doing IF they mean what they say.

He is refusing that money. And he opposed the Super Pacs paid for with that money which those who SAY they want it overturned, are NOT doing.

You can't oppose something and take advantage of it at the same time. I know these 'ethics' are common inside the DC bubble of pundits and operatives etc.

But in the real world of ordinary people, if you oppose something you do not take advantage of it for your own personal benefit. It just doesn't compute.

6. No small share of it just goes to salaries and expenses.

Here's an example I just made up, but based on how these things often go:

Memo to Team from PPAC leadership.

Subject: operation cantankerous.
Dates: October 20-25, 2015.
Place: Four Seasons Resort, Maui (or maybe Bora Bora if Lanny doesn't mind)

We'll talk about Bernie and cantankerousness, we'll bring post its, you bring your family (immediate family and friends).
First Class travel is allowed (and encouraged- we're not riff-raff).
All accommodations are comped, you'll love the on-site restaurants at the Maui resort.
Don't worry too much about packing, we can cover certain wardrobe expenses (if you know what I mean).
And be prepared for working Luaus, working SCUBA dives, and working excursions to other destinations to more deeply explore what "cantankerous" is really all about.

Cheers, team!

Chaz, P-PAC events coordinator.

I love that we can reverse their 'brilliant' talking points without it costing Bernie a single dollar.

See what happened to David 'blinded by the money' Brock eg.

In fact THAT attempt to plant a smear, what was it again, I forget, raised over one million dollars for Bernie.

Talk about a total FAILURE.

But I hope that little project cost them a whole lot of dirty money!

I wonder what Brock is up to now, could THIS be his latest idea? Personally I would have fired him after that spectacular backfire, but then some of us have standards!

Welcome to DU btw,

I see that got picked up and mainstreamed and has become part of the (idiotic) prevailing wisdom among the bobble heads.

see a very different response to that attempt to smear someone who worked his whole life for Civil Rights, everywhere else.

Eg, in many ways, that too backfired. Many AAs who had never heard of Bernie, were prompted to look into his record after this smear began.

And several well known AAs were astonished to find out that contrary to the lie being told, 'this guy was fighting for my rights even before I was born. Where was Hillary at that time'? I've seen so many comments like that on Social Media AFTER their Corporate Funded smear campaing began.

Bernie's only problem with ALL voters was and still is, name recognition.

I saw that smear as hugely RACIST to be honest. It implied that AAs are monolithic and don't think for themselves and was hugely offensive to many people.

But it was definitely intended to try to prevent AAs from finding out about Bernie. And it isn't working.

11. Everyone has a temper. The people are angry

and rightfully so.

Any candidate for elected office who isn't angry over the state of this country right now, isn't fit to be elected. They should all be angry at what is being done to this country by a few, greedy, power hungry corporate entities.

And many others of the same ilk. These bullshit anti-Bernie memes don't just pop into existence like electrons and positrons.

thom hartman gives $5 to the rnc, and identifies himself to them as media, so he is in on the daily memo. he often reads the talking points on his show.

and of course, when there was such a thing as air america, al franken had a schtick called "who got the memo" where he played clips of the rw bloviators all saying exactly the same thing on the same day.

"who got the memo" would be a great running title for threads in propaganda debunking.

who was busy trying to anonymously 'plant' a smear against Bernie in the media, I'm thinking it's more difficult for them now that we are all so much more aware and alert to their stupid talking points.

Btw, did Media Matters ever Correct the Record on Brock's lies about Bernie? Isn't that what MM is supposed to do?
