I NEVER thought I'd say ANYTHING like THIS!

When I look at bain romney and see that reptilian look of smug complaisance I have a reaction that I never expected to have.

I miss george w moron's smirk.

When I look at bain romney's smarmy affect of the smooth talking swindler I have a reaction that I never expected to have.

I believe that I'm looking at someone who makes richard m nixon look seem a man of integrity.

Now, before some of the more strident members of this community rear up in their indignity and start screaming that I'm a closet republican, let me establish some of my bona fides. The first political campaign I worked in was stuffing envelopes for Robert Kennedy's presidential run in 1968. I was 12 (almost 13) when Bobby was murdered. One of many painfully hard days in my life has been the day I went in to help shut down the office after the shooting. I campaigned for George McGovern in five primary state at 16/17 in 1972, busting my ass canvassing and calling during the general election in 1972 long after it was clearly a hopeless case. I campaigned for Mondale/Ferraro in 1984, Dukakis in 88, Clinton in 92 & 96, Gore in 00, Kerry in 04 and Obama in 08. Add to this several Senate, House and Gubernatorial candidates, the most recent bring Libby Mitchell here in Maine in 2010. the honor of that one was that my 10 year old son campaigned with me.

I am NOT a closet rightist.

The irony I see is that with passing time, each rethug candidate actually gets worse! Each rethug candidate reaches a low that I can't fathom being surpassed, and then 4 years (or in the unfortunate case of a rethug victory, 8 years) later it happens.

Look at a brief history of republican presidents in my lifetime. I won't count IKE because I was 5 when he left office and he was of an entirely different species than the more contemporary crop. Also Ford was simply a better person than most of his party.

nixon was a total thief who was surpassed by reagan's almost total senility. reagan's senility was surpassed by bush senior's efforts to erase the fact of his being a total cypher by starting 2 wars, one of which was during the transition period after getting his ass kicked out of office. I thought that the total slime and sleaze of the cheney/bush "administration" was the nadir, but how wrong I was.

We are now confronted with the likelyhood of a rethug nominee who has a manner about him that would have the fathers of the girls he dated as a teen on high alert. He acts like the used car salesman that makes you want to run to the next dealership with your hand on your wallet. He acts like the con artist who endears himself to your family and then disappears with the content of all your savings accounts. He's the shitty boss who knows that you know he's lying and feels entitled to your trust and loyalty anyway.

He acts like a job destroying venture capitalist who gets indignant after he's caught in his life long web of lies and deceit.

If he is their nominee, I want him to lose VERY BADLY! I want him to lose very badly partly because we have a president who heartily deserves re-election and partly because bain romney deserves a MASSIVE repudiation.

He deserves it for his horrid policies, but he also deserves it for his aforementioned smarmy look of smugness and self-entitlement.

PEACE!

We've been saying this for how many years now? We have to realize this voting block is useless to us and we will most likely never attain them. Obama, will have to reach out to new voters, I'm sure his team is on top of this already. Of course we need the base to come out in droves, but we need to reach those 18-25yrs olds who have never voted. This election is even more important than 2008. My worse nightmare would be to wake up after election day with Mittens as the next president. Mittens is 10x worse than McCain, at least he had a little decency in him. Mittens is so smug and elitist, I can't listen to his speeches or anything he sucks. I would love to see Obama trounce him in Nov, but even if Obama won by 1% I would be the happiest person in the world. I don't want to see Mittens get credit for all of Obama's blood, sweat and tears. Mittens would take credit for the killing of OBL and when the economy turns around which it will, he will take credit. HELL NO, we cannot let this happen, not on my watch!!Obama2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...for working people, especially in this election. Polling continues to show that bain romney struggles with them. I think their votes are very attainable this year. Hopefully I'm right. It's very difficult to win an election without them.

Unfortunately, many of them are easily manipulated into voting against their own best interests. I believe however, that President Obama will improve upon his 2008 results in both the popular and electoral vote.

The 3 exceptions among republican presidents or candidates in my lifetime were Ike, Ford and (Gasp) Goldwater. The primary difference between they and the other rethugs that either ran or "served" was that they were fundamentally decent and honest people with whom I would disagree on policies.

The rest were either downright EVIL, or, in reagan's case, senile. george w moron was evil AND stupid, which is doubly dangerous!

What scares me is that on election day I'll be 57. Given the longevity that runs in my family, I have a likely 7 or 8 more presidential elections to go. I shudder to think of their future nominees. I would hope that the republican establishment will sit back and let the teabagger segment get their ases kicked badly so they could purge them and bring the party back to somewhere close to the center. They did this in 1964, as the Democratic establishment did in 1972. The problem with this scenario is that today, there are no republican moderates. Sigh!

I was inclined to say that they, especially Ike, would have won with a dried up sack of monkey poop for running mates, but then again, I think they both did! The tragedy was that Ike didn't NEED a richard nixon to win.

To compare Power Repub to Power Repub, I think you have to compare Romney with Cheney. GWB was just the poorly trained chimp in a suit.

So it's comparing Smarmy Sleaze with Malevolent Puppetmaster.

I thought that he would run as a moderate milquetoast but the distortions, innuendos, and outright lies he has been spewing recently about President Obama get my blood boiling, almost as much as Rush Limbaugh, Neal Boortz, Sean Hannity, et. al do. What makes me even madder is that he can just run around the country and say pretty much anything he wants to and, at least so far, isn't being called on any of his BS. Of course, none of the Repubs are ever really called on much of their BS but more than a few people have to be hearing this stuff and scratching their heads, especially as the rhetoric gets worse. It will be nice for Obama to eventually be able to finally call him out on this stuff during the GE but it would be nicer if him and/or his surrogates (he does have some, doesn't he?) were out there on a regular basis shooting some of this crap down more.

I don't really expect the Obama campaign to launch a huge pushback just yet but I'd have a hard time staying quiet if somebody was running around the country spewing such venom at me. I generally trust that Obama and his campaign braintrust know what they're doing and will launch an effective counterstrike at the appropriate time.

Last night on Jay Leno's tv program Senator John McCain's daughter, Meghan, said that Ronald Reagan wouldn't even be able get elected by the Republicans in today's environment. what with the tea party faction of the GOP pushing their party clear off of the cliff.

She said that Reagan would be rejected by today's Republican party because he was a moderate.
Which he wasn't, but it was cute her saying so, just the same.
And then she went on to say that Romney is a nice guy, blah, blah, blah, and I thought, gee Meghan, so is Barack Obama, so why don't you wise up?
