2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFalse Claim: CNN Deletes Pro-Sanders Poll
The story was posted on October 15, 2015 on the website Nation of Change in response to the Democratic Presidential debate which was held on October 13. The story asserts that CNN was under fire for deleting a poll which showed Bernie Sanders winning with a 75% vote in the online poll.
the poll disappeared, only to be replaced by a pro-Hillary headline story, the article claimed.
That poll was not posted on the CNN website, but on their Facebook page, and it is still there as of October 18, 2015. It shows Sanders with an 81% showing in the poll.
While the poll wasnt deleted, a pro-Hillary headline did appear on CNN after the debate. CNNs Jeremy Diamond proclaimed Hillary Clinton as the winner, which agreed with only a small minority of those who participated in the Facebook poll.
BOTTOM LINE
CNN did not delete a poll which showed Bernie Sanders as the winner of a recent Democratic Presidential debate. The poll can still be found on Facebook days later. A CNN opinion piece, did, however disagree with the poll and tap Clinton as the debates winner.
The poll is still there.
Waiting for the public debunking of " ZOMG,CNN changed the debate from 9:00 to 8:30!!!!!!"

(1,545 posts)How do I know that my corporate owned internet company isn't just making it LOOK like the poll is still there, when really they took it down to hide the fact that there are only 4 people in America who don't feel the bern?

(1,214 posts)Maybe it was linked from their facebook page, but I avoid facebook like the plague. A google search doesn't show the poll on their actual website cnn.com.
Suggestions:
Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords.
Try fewer keywords.
Search Results
Maybe I used the wrong search terms, or maybe it's no longer linked through cnn.com?

(1,214 posts)I watched the debate on cnn.com. Maybe there was a link to the facebook page(did CNN confirm that the poll was only on facebook?) , why would I watch the debate on facebook when I don't (and won't) have an account there?
sufrommich
(22,871 posts)have to have a Facebook account to vote on their Facebook poll.Bernie supporters even instructed other supporters to vote on CNN s facebook page:

(1,214 posts)That's my point, they(meaning cnn) may have linked to the poll from facebook (again, if that is the case*) and that confused people including me. Since I don't do facebook, I wouldn't have seen the instructions telling me where to vote.
*So far, I've only seen this reported by wafflesatnoon which may have found the old poll on cnn's facebook page while trying to prove that the poll didn't get deleted, and snopes, which doesn't do anything but link to the facebook page. That doesn't prove to me that the poll was never linked, embeded, or even originally hosted at cnn.com.
sufrommich
(22,871 posts)the same thing,do you distrust Snopes too? The poll was never on the CNN page, you got linked to the CNN facebook poll,WHICH IS STILL THERE,do you deny that it's still there? Sheesh.

(1,214 posts)If you looked on the page for the debate when it happened, it didn't say anything about facebook it was all cnn. cnn showed the poll through it's website, then later removed the linked results. Did they delete the poll? No, but they did apparently stop showing it on cnn.com. IS IT STILL LINKED TO CNN?one!

(1,214 posts)Where it is now doesn't prove where it was. I'm accessing du from my home; that doesn't prove that I never accessed du from a public library or a wi-fi device outside my home.
Visually, without getting into linking and embedding and all that, the poll was displayed with the debate. That is all I am responding to. Some people in the Hillary group have been going out of their way to paint Sanders supporters as racists, angry, paranoid, etc. The OP seemed to be doing this as well. My post is about my observations. If you display the poll with the cnn.com debate page, why not keep them linked?
