1. Because the right wingers have a completely different set of statistics...

some created by cherrypicking the record, others just pulled out of thin air. But they confuse the average voter so well that the truth never gains traction.

They have been pushing the "trickle down" mantra for decades while their has actually been a flood of income to the top one percent and drought for the rest of us. Despite that irrefutable fact, they soldier on for their one percent patrons. As Karl Rove once said, they make their own reality.
