2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf Bernie Sanders wins the nod, I will not vote for him..
Because he refuses to join the Democratic Party.. and I will have to try and sell him but he refuses to embrace me.. It has to do with my personal integrity..
If Hillary Clinton wins the nod I will not vote for her because she has a long political history that includes working with Wall Street.. and we know what they did to our economy.. It has to do with my personal integrity..
One.... Two.... Three...
Do you begin to get how stupid that sounds?.. I would blow up the future of the county because I am incensed that he refuses to be a Democrat.. or she has taken Wall Street money
Party loyalty.. there is something to it.. just ask the republicans as they start to disintegrate before our very eyes..
You base your decision on the party platform.. not the individual or their base supporters.. but will that person carry forward what the party stands for.. that is what party means
Its a whole lot like being party of a union.. Unions made mistakes.. and sometimes got greedy.. but totally walking away from them gave us what??
And I am not even going to begin to address the poster who advocated for the President (Obama)being brought up on war crimes charges.. what were people drinking this weekend????

Not that I live by the words of Jefferson. His point here was that he was not a Federalist; he goes on to say that he disagrees with anti-federalists even more.
My point is that any party is stronger when its people are capable of thinking for themselves, and that I do so. When the party is right, it gets my support. When it's not, it doesn't.
Interestingly, Jefferson also said, in a different letter to Sam Kercheval in 1816:
Only lay down true principles, and adhere to them inflexibly. Do not be frightened into their surrender by the alarms of the timid, or the croakings of wealth against the ascendency of the people.

(30,481 posts)They put womens rights before purity.
They put social and economic justice before purity.
They put the social safety net before purity.
Lets test this purity. Out of the twenty or so people currently running for President, how many of them would you vote for in the general? The answer to that question will determine your level of purity. lol.

(53,475 posts)Of the people currently running for President, there's only one I'd vote for in the primary, and three (maybe four) I'd vote for in the general.
I've no idea how that relates to purity as none of them are "pure" in any sense.

(34,058 posts)deem important to them. No amount of you, or anyone else telling them they are wrong or stupid or misguided or whatever else is going to help. I have never understood the need to push people like that. It rarely works and often backfires. So it doesn't make sense to you. Should that change someone with a deeply held conviction that does not agree?

A worried man with a worried mind
No one in front of me and nothing behind
There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking champagne
Got white skin, got assassin's eyes
I'm looking up into the sapphire tinted skies
I'm well dressed, waiting on the last train
Standing on the gallows with my head in a noose
Any minute now I'm expecting all hell to break loose
People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed
This place ain't doing me any good
I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood
Just for a second there I thought I saw something move
Gonna take dancing lessons do the jitterbug rag
Ain't no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag
Only a fool in here would think he's got anything to prove
Lotta water under the bridge, lotta other stuff too
Don't get up gentlemen, I'm only passing through
People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed
I've been walking forty miles of bad road
If the bible is right, the world will explode
I've been trying to get as far away from myself as I can
Some things are too hot to touch
The human mind can only stand so much
You can't win with a losing hand
Feel like falling in love with the first woman I meet
Putting her in a wheel barrow and wheeling her down the street
People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed
I hurt easy, I just don't show it
You can hurt someone and not even know it
The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity
Gonna get lowdown, gonna fly high
All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie
I'm love with a woman who don't even appeal to me
Mr. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they jumped in the lake
I'm not that eager to make a mistake
People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

(30,481 posts)Conservative is another one. I don't believe most are that stupid. I believe most to be conservative trolls. If one posts up to five email stories a day(most from conservative sources), including one five days after it was debunked, questions if POC are suffering from Stockholm if they vote for a progressive, and so on; they are conservative trolls. They really couldn't be more clear in their ideology. Plenty of them around.
