(7,830 posts)We need to get going on the local level.
For the time being, we have to ride this out. I keep telling myself that if we can survive 8 years of Bush Jr, we can survive anything.
Blessed be.

As for equating HRC to a hard-core union-breaking conservative, that is...unbalanced. To put it nicely.

(99,710 posts)If someone can provide evidence this is part of HRC's platform I will look at it.
BTW, Trudeau and the Liberal party ran on a typical center left platform. If someone can show where he and they railed against the 1% and the oligarchs I will be glad to look at that too...

(99,710 posts)Trudeau is to the left of Clinton because Canada is to the left of the United States but it's helpful to compare things to like things.
But in this analogy Clinton is Trudeau and whomever the Repubs nominate is Harper.

And the NDP is the most leftist of all.....and finished third.

I think we are better informed, overall, because, unlike the US news which tends to be US centric, CBC spends time with indepth reports on international reports as well as on national news.
The new Liberal government will add funding back to CBC because they know Canadians, overall, support the crown corporation.

NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)Sanders and Clinton are different in many ways. Example, Clinton, Obama, Biden and Kennedy all voted for a pathway to citizenship for over ten million people. Sanders voted against it. I would put Sanders vote with respect to the ten plus million people he fought against, and their extended family, up to the morality of Hillarys IWR vote any day. It is clear though that Sanders is to Clintons left on economic issues. Often much further left.
She is a progressive. Thanks for telling me to wake up. Even the most simple comments here are greeted with a passive-aggressive attitude.
JRLeft
(7,010 posts)it would have been bad for immigrants.
NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)Yes, I'm sure you think they are currently better off. You do realize they would currently be citizens. Not in fear of themselves and their family members being deported. It's pretty cold to claim they are better off in their current situation. Here is the real kicker. After Sanders was used by the GOP in fighting against a pathway to citizenship for over ten million people, did the GOP then stop fighting for the IT visas? So, Sanders helped them to stop a pathway to citizenship mostly because of visa's. Did the GOP then stop fighting for the visa's? Yeah, really principled there. Helped insure they got what they wanted, blocking a pathway to citizenship for over ten million people, then out of respect for Sanders they took the visa issue off the table. Right?

Voted for the IWR
Voted for the Patriot Act
Voted for the Bankruptcy Bill
That's not even close to moderate. Just because she says it, it doesn't make it true, as we well know.
