2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumso that's why Joe made those calls to former staffers...
to get their honest assessment on his chances at this point in the race. And they must've been pretty blunt: no way at this point, Joe.
I'm glad he talked about the progress he made through the grief process. I'm glad he seems able to speak about it with the assurance he seems to have. I want him to have achieved some peace.
That process just took too long. It's the way it is. Wonderful to have the president and Jill right up there with him.

Jill looked so relieved - maybe resigned, certainly exhausted, at the speech. To see President Obama there with him...must have given Joe a lot of strength and confidence. The relationship between Obama and Biden is so admireable, so genuine, so strong. Seeing Jill look at Obama...what emotion up there.
I think Joe went on so long because he knew this was his last big spotlight. Sad in some ways for him, but the best outcome, by far.
And Bernie - always staying classy.
I would love to see the Dems at this level stay united, even across their different positions on many issues. It's such a contrast to the Repubs.

(63,771 posts)bernie or hillary are our nominees. The people like him and I think trust him. Hard to hate the guy after what he's gone through. Of course, the haters will always be there, but I think Joe will temper their hatred among the folks who may not particularly love Bernie or Hillary, but will respect Joe.
Maybe I'm dreaming but I think the repuke hate machine is going to break down...
