(41,600 posts)<snip> "I am pleased to report that the historical records of the Democratic Leadership Council will become part of the Clinton Foundation.
In 1985, the Democratic Party was out of ideas and out of power. A small group of reform-minded governors - including Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton - senators and house members and I formed the DLC to change both. And over the last quarter century, I believe the record will show that we did just that." <snip>

They aren't even close to Progressives. They're all Right of Center and that includes Bill Clinton's wife, HILLARY.

(5,204 posts)He convinced Clinton he had to got totally 3rd way to win re-election.
So how great a political predictor is Dick Morris?
He predicted that Arkansas would be safe Obama in 2008. Obama lost it by 20 points.

(10,622 posts)I have been following this hybrid Dem/Rep political movement that has been pushing Reaganomics since the early nineties.
Unfortunately even after their Koch involvements became well known they simply rebranded and the infection has spread to the central nervous system of the party and has caused great poverty and wealth disparity as the disease has reached stage 3, the prognosis is not good, it is killing the party of the people and is helping to establish the new gilded age unchecked.

(41,600 posts)Yes, they have completely destroyed the Democratic Party. By the time people figured that out, it was too late. The party has been infiltrated by them. Time to purge it face a new Progressive Party. I know if Bernie isn't the nominee, I'm finished with the CORRUPT Third Way.

(3,795 posts)We can fight to take it back, and that will take an enormous and coordinated long-term effort.
And, the new gilded age is already here. Wealth and income disparity exceeds that of the gilded age. The media just won't report on that. We have plenty of haunting pictures of poverty from the Great Depression that are widely circulated. We could have many more today that capture poverty similarly, but I have huge doubts the media would give those images much traction. They would have to be spread virally through social media.

(5,178 posts)And they have made incredible inroads in profiting from others pain. I'd say they have made leaps and bounds of progress in that area.
As far as making lives better or caring about others lives. Anyone with investments hoping for that is either delusional or a closet conservative too embarrassed to admit the truth to themselves. They care about themselves, deeply. Others? Eh. Good luck dealing with the wolves they sponsor.
Some of us try to make progress and some profit from our failures. Those aligned against us are why we always seem to fail. For every person legitimately trying to make others lives, to make future lives, better, there are scores invested against that future.

(14,255 posts)Interesting read.
I feel I see more of this in action because I live in Florida, and Debbie-Wasserman-DINO, Ben Nelson (DINO-FL) and Patrick Murphy (DINO-FL) are pretty easy to track.
Patrick Murphy is a prime example of the Third Way - was a Republican until 2012, switched so he could run against another Republican, no change of conscience or anything like that.
He was one of the three Democrats who voted with the GOP to form the Benghazi witch hunt.
And Debbie W. loves him, she had the Florida Progressive Caucus threatened with de-certification if they persisted in backing Grayson for Rubio's seat.
My set-in-stone position is to never vote for a DINO again. In addition, all the folks who blandly say oh, you must elect progressives/liberals at the lower levels and then they will rise through the ranks - no, Wasserman-Schultz stomps on them like grapes. She has campaigned for GOP buddies, refused to campaign/fund raise for Dem candidates against her GOP buddies, and pulls all kinds of tricks to discourage progressives. See how well that is working out for us?
