ALERTER'S COMMENTS
"Third Way Progressive"
Personal attack. It's the kind of insult corporate stooges invent to insult real progressives.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Oct 26, 2015, 07:23 AM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Huh?
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I am not a republican. Does that mean I am saying you are? Please read the terms of service. Also please realize this is a forum for adults.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: It's not going to happen alerter
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: This was close for me. Ordinarily I don't care about little snippy comments like this from people...and the other person needs to grow thicker skin. But I know calling someone a Third Way Progressive because they support Hillary is a slippery slope and ridiculous argument. The insinuation is a personal attack.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Good grief! The term Third Way Progressive is being used all over the media and social media to describe Bernie supporters. Get over it!
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(80,708 posts)Long running DU drama grudges, into the vastly different parameter round holes of the current democratic primary contest, and the results - and concomitant contortions and tortured logic on the part of those folks - have been.... amusing, to say the least.
I'm going to vote in the primary for the candidate that best aligns with my positions and value system, and if that candidate loses the nomination, I will then happily support our nominee.
It doesnt strike me as terribly complicated.

(14,733 posts)What, by creating the school to prison pipeline for black Americans and profiting off of it?
If that's what Clinton thinks is improving America, I don't think I agree with her notion of 'improving the country'.
I don't 'hate' Clinton, because hate is a waste of energy. But I don't find her to be any sort of leader, and I think most of the positions she's held over the years have been poor ones. It's good that she's finally swinging around to at least imitate Sanders, even if she'll probably swing back around to more Republican positions if she wins the nomination.

(9,527 posts)Sanders, Clinton and O'Malley I'm happy to vote for. I get frustrated with some supporters who let their passion for their candidate but that doesn't reflect on the candidate. Well okay the fact that Don Black supported Ron Paul makes me like Ron Paul even less than I would simply for him being a libertarian.

(5,204 posts)The reasons why someone who isn't powerful would support Hillary tend to be kind of flimsy. They need to create justification, even if it's completely bogus.
DFW
(54,273 posts)Lanny Davis, e.g. (I assume) supports Hillary, and he is a first class asshole. I've met the guy a few times. He's just as obnoxious in person as he is in public appearances. It doesn't mean Hillary is like that, or would govern like that.
Bernie hasn't received enough public endorsements yet to point to anyone abhorrent. Keith Ellison and Raúl Grijalva are certainly endorsements ANY Democrat worthy of the name would delight in having. However, Bernie has publicly stated (wisely enough) that some who purport to support him will end up doing things that he and his campaign will have to disavow. He has been around long enough to know this, and so has Hillary. Some of the posts here in DU certainly fall under that category, but that shouldn't reflect on Bernie himself. He doesn't tell his supporters on here what to post any more than Hillary or O'Malley do.
I don't think worse of Bernie because of nasty posts supporting him or bashing Hillary (and MAN, have there been a few! LOL). I'm not convinced he's the one I'll end up supporting any more than I'm convinced that Hillary is the one I'll end up supporting, but when I make my decision, it will be based on what I hear from Bernie and Hillary, and not from newspaper endorsements or internet posts.

(30,481 posts)I will change it so it doesn't misrepresent the op as it is currently. I also notice the banter you mention. Sometimes it's hard to see these things even if one is a regular here. The op does like to throw out bombshells. "Hillary Beats Up Old Man" was a huge hit for a week or so. Thank you for correctly pointing out my error.
Half-Century Man
(5,279 posts)The Professor of a History of Western Civilization class I took long ago claimed; that the reason the wars were so terrible between the Catholics and the Protestants is because each saw the other as more damaging to the faith that outside factors.
Outside influences strengthened the resolve of believers, heretics were something else, a corruption of the collective self. An intentional doubt in the truth of the belief. The more fanatical the believer, the greater the reaction to perceptions of heresy.
I look at what is happening here on DU, as something akin to that. We here are the fanatics of the Democratic party. We haunt a site who's name implies a special subset of the Democratic Party. One that was more so hardcore we had to conceal our thoughts from the public.
NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)That one poster questioned if Her most solid group of support suffered from Stockholm. There is so much hate of Hillary personally that another poster had an op "Hillary Beats Up Old Man." Got your bases covered. Whatever hate you are seeing doesn't amount to the racist comments recently thrown at Clintons strongest block of support.
MannyGoldstein
(34,589 posts)Well before the tiny wave of people declaring their need to support Hillary because of the horrific Bernie supporters, I and a few others traded notes about a few Bernie supporters who kept posting "I like Bernie, but..." posts. Not about his supporters, but about him, things like "I like Bernie way more than Hillary, but I'm concerned that he's not really a Democrat." They'd always attack Bernie, always defend Hillary, yet claim they supported Bernie.
Weird, huh?
We called that group "Bernie Butters" (I don't claim credit for the clever name), and predicted they'd soon have epiphanies where they'd realize the need to switch allegiance.
Sure enough, all the Bernie Butters that I recall have had that epiphany, most because of us naughty no-good Sanders supporters. The final one was a week or two ago.
One particularly self-unaware one switched at least twice, several months apart. Every time it was to Hillary.
