TNDP's Keynote Speaker to Attract Protesters Wanting More Primary Debates
Nashville Scene

It won’t be Republicans or people fundamentally opposed to the Tennessee Democratic Party rallying outside the TNDP annual gala tonight — it will be fellow Dems, and maybe a few independents.

At least 60 protesters are expected to rally outside OZ Arts Nashville during the TNDP's 500-ticket sold-out Jackson Day Dinner to urge the program’s speaker, Democratic National Convention Chair and Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, to allow more presidential debates of the Democratic candidates. Currently, four debates will air before voters first go to the polls in February, and six are scheduled in total.

The planned demonstration is organized by #AllowDebate, a loose tangling of Democrats and independents more commonly supporting candidates like Bernie Sanders and other non-establishment candidates than frontrunner Hillary Clinton, contending the 2008 presidential primary saw more than 25 debates (although most were unsanctioned) compared to six debates this cycle with penalties for participating in unsanctioned ones.

“We’re really focusing on the DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. We are going to try our best to make that clear that it’s not a protest against the Democratic party,” said Tim Sonderman, one of several organizers planning to stand outside OZ. “We just want more debates.”

They've got lots of support. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the idea of having more debates is very popular among Democrats. Lol, let's wait and see if DWS polls us on that.
