Related: About this forumJUST got a solicitation e-mail from DWS,
saying 'I can't believe it,' re: repug debate.
Told her I contribute DIRECTLY to Martin O'Malley, whom I look forward to seeing at our DEBATES, few and far between that they are.

(6,604 posts)I didn't mean to come across as such a downer just now.
Hopefully it will register--and again, good for you for saying what you did. I tend to be quite the cynic, and sometimes it can take a toll.

The DLC's effort to win Meeks's vote was part of a vigorous campaign by New Democrats to assure legislators that business groups would replace campaign contributions from labor lost by a pro-business China vote. In The New Democrat, the DLC's monthly magazine, Washington's most powerful business lobbyist, Thomas J. Donohue of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, wrote that even though some members of Congress risked losing the AFL-CIO's support, "business will stick by Democrats on the China trade vote."
Simon Rosenberg, the former field director for the DLC who directs the New Democrat Network, a spin-off political action committee, says, "We're trying to raise money to help them lessen their reliance on traditional interest groups in the Democratic Party. In that way," he adds, "they are ideologically freed, frankly, from taking positions that make it difficult for Democrats to win."

Older article, but still good to read, if you have not yet read it.

(26,549 posts)When the party leadership deliberately sandbags any primary campaign by an actual liberal, what are we supposed to do?
When the party refuses to be accountable for their massive 2010 and 2014 losses, what are we supposed to do?
When the party makes it clear that Wall Street money is more important than the right policies, what are we supposed to do?
I'll tell you one thing we are not supposed to do: Blindly follow the leadership, just because they are the leadership.

(9,497 posts)It's yours. You can waste it how you want to, you buy what you want --it's yours.
I just thought you would like to send a lot and get a nice little thank you letter. It would be special.

They don't need my $25 or $50 when there are so many SuperPacs to cover the costs.
It's clear the Democratic Party has gone all-in for Clinton. A conservative estimate would have Sanders with 25 % of the voters' support, yet nearly all of the party's leaders are for Clinton.
