I mean, dealing with quick changing events is exactly what the President does every day.
I actually think Bernie will do well on this considering the committee's he serves on.

(55,981 posts)money out of politics. I know you don't agree. Some side with big money because of envy. Your billionaires don't care about the 50 million Americans living in poverty and I don't think their bought and paid for politicians will either.

(6,282 posts)...is that one of the campaigns is deliberately leaking information about private debate terms negotiations. What is even more embarrassing is the cowardice of hiding behind anonymity while lobbing spitballs at your rivals. Really disappointed with whichever campaign that staffer is from.

(70,077 posts)I thought the whole thing was on foreign policy.
.......Another person who was on the call confirmed to Yahoo News that Longabaugh had a lengthy dispute about the changed plans for the debate format on the call with CBS. The Sanders campaign declined to comment.
The rival staffer said the CBS representatives on the call argued they were not completely switching the focus for the debate.
The CBS folks were like, Look, were not turning this into a foreign policy debate, were going to reorder the questions so that were leading off with a foreign policy focus based on what happened last night, the rival staffer said.
According to the staffer, representatives for the two other candidates, Hillary Clinton and former Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley, chimed in to say we completely agree with CBS. The staffer said Longabaugh was hot and had his voice raised. The staffer said Longabaugh described the changes as not right and noted that CBS originally offered the candidates an opening that was more open ended, where they could talk about the basis for our campaign.
He got very hot and there was like a five or seven minute back and forth and he just wouldnt let it go, the staffer said, adding, The CBS guy got annoyed enough to the point where he said, Look, you know, what youre saying makes no sense. You know, there was a terrorist attack in Paris, and of course we have to change the way the debate is structured, and were not, you know, making this a foreign policy debate.
Despite the objections from the Sanders campaign, the rival staffer said the debate will move forward with the emphasis on the attacks.
Theres going to be a one minute or so opening basically open-ended statement from each of the candidates so they can address Paris, the staffer said. Then, theyre going to have the first twenty minute segment be foreign policy focused because of what happened in Paris and then theyre going to go back to the debate as it was normally structured.

(15,229 posts)law unto themselves, and Bernie's made it clear, that in office, he wouldn't tolerate the media arrogantly ignoring, riding rough-shod, over prior agreements on content, if he gave them an interview. I expect Bernie was keen to use ever minute explaining his priorities
It's simply a matter of elementary courtesy, which our countries need to see more of from media talking-heads. That doesn't preclude them asking probing questions, although even the news is mostly infotainment. But I can understand you people clutching at straws, with a corporatist protege, such as Hillary.

(711 posts)I'm voting for Hillary, but I realize that Sanders is a very well informed man. He's also been a US Senator for a long, long time. So, he'll do a good job. I'm sure of it. And Clinton may be a bit more comfortable discussing these issues, but I'm certain she's been struggling to switch her focus on a dime, as well. They all have. The debate changes were sprang on all 3 of the candidates equally.
You know, horrible events such as the Paris bombings will unfortunately happen to whomever is elected President, maybe in the middle of a big domestic policy push. Seeing how flexible the candidates are, how easily they handle sudden change, might be useful information for us all.
