(35,392 posts)and by his next door-neighbor who didn't really believe he was Michael Steele ... and thought the ID was faked ...
(Then again, he wasn't allowed in the front door to the Tea Party meetings, anyway ...)

(13,985 posts)I keep seeing him as MSNBC contributor. Is he giving up on his GOP? Or he just goes wherever the money is $ I don't trust Steele as far as I can see

(2,940 posts)You seem like a reasonable guy most of the the time, which means you probably don't belong in today's Republican party.

(30,058 posts)Let the radical conservatives create their own party and ticket. Send the likes of Todd Akin and Sarah Palin and bring back the intelligent members. The anti-abortion group are crazy, don't believe in abortion but in killing drs and others, does not add up. They also do not like welfare to assist in the rearing of these children they want to force on everyone.

(725 posts)He cannot possibly be so blind that he does not know the ID laws are designed to suppress the vote, especially the black vote.
For him to condemn the rhetoric and not the intent is hypocritical. I expect that the majority of African Americans understand that and he's a bright man - he KNOWS it. I don't know how he sleeps at night.

(2,514 posts)having said that... i'm betting when this whole thing is over, that those who are attempting voter suppression, will go down in history, along side those who wanted Woolworth's lunch counter segragated..
in our second term look for DOJ--> ALEC--> RICO.. conspiracy to deny voting rights..

(22,000 posts)I find it odd Steele would speak out against his party.
The other thing in that article that jumped out at me were the number of African-American delegates at the convention 47 out of 2,286! In 2000 they had 85 and 2004 167. I wonder why not many African-American delegates, could it be a race thing. If I were an African-American I wouldn't want to be part of their party given their shitty ideas.
