2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRomney can only HOPE to debate an empty chair in the "debates" ...
1. It's the only way he'll stand a chance ... debating something that can't "fight back". If Obama fights back, Romney will lose.
2. He'd lose to the chair.

(22,140 posts)he will lose his temper on stage. He will wish he had an empty chair to debate once he gets flustered and I think that will be early in the debate.

(8,377 posts)Faux "news" almost never has real opponents on their air -- people who are capable of articulating a credible case and given the time and courtesy to do so. It is so much easier to debate straw men (aka empty chairs). And heck, Faux even loses a lot of those arguments.

(71 posts)Obama wants to debate GWB and Romney wants to debate a chair. So I say we have GWB debate a chair, my money is on the chair.

(14,881 posts)I expect he'll either lose his temper, or be so tied up in knots trying to control it that he'll look like a chunk of petrified wood.
There is one, single thing I have to give W credit for. Gore really messed up in the debates with the eye rolling and sighs, and when he tried to play his power game of (robotically) entering W's space, W handled it really, really well. It was a juvenile tactic and W really showed it for what it was.

(35,392 posts)Remember, the allegedly "liberally biased media" didn't dig up any copies of one of GWB's few post-9/11 press conferences in which he actually answered questions when Kerry referred to Bush43's statement about how he didn't really care about Osama bin Laden.
