2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWanna apologize for being pessimistic
It's just when I see confederate flags flying around in FL. 33 percent of friends are voting Romney, the other 33 not voting at all, it gets to me.

In Maryland, nothing like that. DUers must undertand, and commiserate.

(8,217 posts)I just have to deal with a radicalized Right Wing mother, and an Aunt who started living with her from Arizona who is a one issue voter.
Granted, me and my siblings don't agree with her nor live with her, but of course she is still the loudest.
I'm just glad that she stopped sending emails our way, as we have all fact checked her to bits.
We thankfully don't talk about politics much, but she does try to insinuate it more and more lately which is getting bothersome.
I can get pessimistic too in regards to that, just because there is no way for facts and truths to get to them.

(1,831 posts)Which by some twisted, nonsensical fate, has Romney ahead in the "God" issue.
Which of course, is telling me that it's more racist than religious. Couldn't find any statistics, but it's been my experience that believers typically vote with their faith.
So in yet another twist, a non Christian is ahead of the Christian among the faithful. Hence my belief of the racist undertone.
This election is far from over. If pessimism keeps you fighting, go with it.

(25,415 posts)There are going to be some very red areas there. Thankfully, there are some blue areas too. Florida is a swing state, not a red one. It goes back and forth for the Presidential races often. What if you lived in Oklahoma? I think that is the reddest state in America. I don't think President Obama won one county there. Florida doesn't seem so bad, does it? Stay and fight in Florida. I would, if I lived there.

(19,458 posts)Because the people putting up money for Romney, are mostly defense contractors and companies like Blackwater, who make bank on a new war or two. And this time, I don't think they can fake their way out of having the Draft this time. Last time, they used and abused the active duty troops and the Nat'l Guard and Reserve. Next time, they'lll have to use the Draft. If your friends are male, between the ages of 18 and 35, they better damn well vote. No fooling around anymore for that generation, they know nothing of the Draft and have no idea what's coming if they sit home and let Romney and the War Mongers win.
And if any of them care at all about the troops, they should not consider staying home.. which is a silent vote for someone that will never bring the troops home from the Middle East.

(2,404 posts)I firmly believe Romney/Ryan would get us in another war in less than a year. Mr. My Sons Choose Not To Serve is chomping at the bit to start a party.
Make sure your friends know that.
