Speaks Volumes: "Clinton still confident in Rahm Emanuel"

Hillary doubles down in support of Rahm's criminal malfeasance and cover-up for killer-cops.

Clinton still confident in Rahm Emanuel
By Mario Trujillo * December 05, 2015 * The Hill

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton says she still has confidence in Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, amid controversy surrounding the delayed release of a video that showed Chicago police shooting a black teenager last year.

Clinton responded “I do” when asked whether she stood by Emanuel, who is a veteran of both the Obama and Clinton administrations.

“He loves Chicago and I'm confident that he's going to do everything he can to get to the bottom of these issues and take whatever measures are necessary to remedy them,” she told reporters Friday in Iowa, according to Bloomberg.
Emanuel penned an op-ed Friday contesting the idea that the video showing the killing of Laquan McDonald by police was withheld because of his election.

Sat Dec 5, 2015, 04:45 PM

or torpedo the primary thereof

the central issue is: they did NOT expect a real run--any pink-faced leftish wonky old Senator who flaps his arms like a Warner Bros cartoon would do even worse than DU fan favorite Kucinich did: after all, he's to the left of the approved candidates, and we know that any real left is only one wing of the party--why, barely "a third of a third" nationally-speaking! heck, Will Marshall says that the losses since 2010 are only because the Pelosi and Kerry left wing of the party replaced Emanuel's cross-party appeal!

the ultimate cause of all this is: they COULD NOT expect a real run: "what politics is" is going to enough events with people of groups X Y and Z, racking up endorsements (like poker chips), promising to "feel for" groups with entirely opposite messages and needs, and then the glorious victory!

there's two types of reaching across the aisle to the GOP: adopting their policies and making them realize that all the proposed policies are just there to screw them further; they really think that 60% of Americans don't vote because they find the GOP too far left and the Dems too far right, even on economic issues--after all, Obama's not a TOTAL austerian!

22. "Rahm Emanuel must resign" By Bakari Sellers, CNN
Sat Dec 5, 2015, 03:22 PM
Dec 2015
But nothing short of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's resignation will restore faith and trust in an already-fractured system that he further perverted, apparently for his own gain.

Loyalty can't make me overlook 17-year-old Laquan McDonald — shot 16 times by Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke —the bullets coming first as McDonald tried to walk away and then as he lay dying on the ground. I can't overlook the facts: that it took Emanuel and the city of Chicago 13 months and a judge's order to release the dashcam footage, that the city only announced a settlement with the McDonald family conveniently after Emanuel's election, and that it took a city's outrage to force the mayor to even consider dismissing police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, which he ultimately did this week.

I can't overlook Emanuel's failure to meet even the most basic benchmarks of transparency. He has damaged beyond repair the public's trust in Chicago's law enforcement and in his leadership.

I can't overlook the fact — the most disturbing fact -- that so much of this situation could have been avoided had Emanuel looked at any point at Laquan McDonald and seen him as a tragic consequence of a broken system, as another young black man who didn't need to die, instead of just a political liability.

Elected officials and law enforcement officers swear an oath to serve and protect the people. This duty is more pronounced in the context of leadership. As the mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel had a distinct duty to serve Laquan McDonald and protect him from harm. When he failed at this, he had a duty, at the very least, to seek justice in his name.

there would be nothing to investigate.

Do you really believe that the Mayor and/or the police oversight board would have eventually released all of the information that has come out so far?

And do you really believe that all information is now in plain sight? Not counting the videos from BK that were erased by the police.

"Clinton is correct that everything needs to be investigated before conclusions can be reached." Why wasn't it investigated earlier (13 months!?!?) Who would have done the "investigation"? Who would have been damaged if an independent investigator found this perversion of justice?

Follow the money. Rahm Emmanuel and his machinery would/will be tarnished and damaged. By association, the Clintons and Obama are also damaged.

It's not the "American Way", but sometimes I think wrong-doers should confess their sins and fall on their swords. Instead the "American Way" is to deflect, defer, and then go on to land a plush job in some more lucrative world. I wonder if the Clinton Foundation is in need of a high-powered asshole.
