ADP says 201K jobs added in August

A hint of the official Jobs Report to be released tomorrow?

Companies in the U.S. added 201,000 workers in August, according to figures from Roseland, New Jersey-based ADP Employer Services. The median estimate in a Bloomberg survey called for an advance of 140,000. Estimates of the 41 economists ranged from increases of 90,000 to 170,000.

They have been way off, both high and low, in past months.

A strong jobs report on Friday would be a huge campaign boost, especially coming just after Obama's convention speech.

Which raises a question: does the White House get an "informal" look at the numbers before they're released? If so, how far in advance? Is it possible that some of their messaging at the convention might be a clue as to what to expect -- good or bad -- on Friday morning?

Tomorrow could set up the final dynamic for the rest of the election.

If the Jobs Report is not good, it may blunt Obama's positive DNC momentum (as they were saying on CNN last night), but if it's a good report, it could be game over for Romney!!
