2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt's going to be a close election!!! It's December 8 and we don't know if it will be Giuliani or
Clinton who will win the general election after they both cruise to easy victories in their primaries!
Giuliani and Clinton are both so far ahead in the primary polls that I have declared victory for my party's nominee and shifted my focus to the general election already!

(700 posts)Again, do the math, Bernistas. 2008 is 7 years ago. 2015 - 2008 = 7.
Remember Howard Sanders? I mean, Howard Dean?

2004 CYCLE
Howard Dean leads the Democratic field by 8 points. He'll lead for 55 more days.
2008 CYCLE
Hillary Clinton leads the Democratic field by 19.6 points. She'll lead for 67 more days.
Rudy Giuliani leads the Republican field by 7.4 points. He'll lead for 30 more days.
2012 CYCLE
Newt Gingrich leads the Republican field by 11.7 points. He'll lead for 27 more days.
How can people look at something so wildly different and draw such a direct connection.

One's a presidential primary and the other is.....

(14,755 posts)But it does show that one candidate leading at this point does not mean that the race is over, as many on here have claimed.

See the difference?
Dawgs
(14,755 posts)And right now it's not clear if Hillary's poll numbers are a reflection of name recognition, or if they are from solid unwavering supporters.
I made a statement of fact. It's useful information when comparing disparate scenarios.
Maybe someone else is interested in your tangent.
Dawgs
(14,755 posts)Is that not a fact?
Also, it's also true that neither of us know why people are choosing Hillary when they vote in polls.

(7,143 posts)Nobody knows if the world will end tonight. Fact. Who cares?

(7,661 posts)this way. When my team of choice say in Football is dominate I really don't need to put down other teams. I just sit back and watch them kick butt. It's the team's fans who feel insecure who find the need to bolster their team because deep down they fear defeat. Hillary has lost before and I'm sure it's lingers in the back of her supporters' minds, it's just human nature.

(45,251 posts)IIRC, the first caucus of 2016 is at the end of January. Not to mention, many more debates in 2008, giving the lesser known Obama more of a chance to make himself known to voters.
Yep. A much more thorough job of rigging this time.
