2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThey are making it appear they will focus only on 8 states for the tons of ads
Even Rachel seems to be buying it. We are in for an unprecedented ad dump filled with relentless and monstrous lies. MANY races will be affected, imo.

(35,392 posts)and yet, I heard one clear from the living room (I'm halfway across the house) ... Romney bashing Obama yet again.
They're like Sarah Palin ... how will we miss the ads when they won't go away???

(50,130 posts)A trap.
I'm sure that Obama campaign is aware of that possibility.

I very much doubt the Obama campaign is buying it.

(21,642 posts)I'm not saying it couldn't be true, but so far it's been a campaign run by the guys who couldn't shoot straight.

(24,238 posts)Unfortunately for the Romneyites, they are not dealing with dopes.

(12,471 posts)have seen only very few Obama and Romulan ads.
Somehow, I don't think that they will be spending much money on ads in NY.

(11,464 posts)the election is over and even billionaires are cheapskates and don't want to waste their petty cash 100 of millions on states that Mitt won't win (like Ohio, and Wisconsin and PA and NJ and california, and the others).
they may be aholes, but that doesn't mean they still aren't cheapskates wanting to hoard most of their money
internal polls must show just how bad he is losing
and remember, money didn't buy Meg Whitman the governorship in California. Jerry won with hardly any bucks at all.
Money can't buy you love
and Obama has won the woman's votes, every single minority vote, the Gay vote, the Jewish vote, etc.
only group that Herr Mittens wins is the angry old white male, and the same ones that listen to Rush Limbaugh (and there are only about 4 million different listeners in a country of 300 million).

(13,255 posts)Nothing is over, nothing is won. This election is not in the past. It's in the future.

(35,392 posts)and today's "liberally-biased media" bought up all the turd polish for Romney ...
Honestly, I couldn't find a single bottle of it anywhere.

(35,392 posts)Have you looked at the history of the "Presidential determination" by Ohio?
When a Dem is Pres and wins a second term (in the "modern" era), it's been rather close.
When it's been a non-re-election of a Dem, or a Repug running for re-election, pretty much the Republican won Ohio. Sometimes close, other times a blowout.
Rarely has Ohio gone to the Dem when a sitting Repug is running.

(11,464 posts)This is MY opinion, but I would bet on the entire scenerio here.
last I heard President Obama, running for reelection is a democrat
(and Obama don't need Ohio's electoral votes to get to 270, but will get them).
Romney can't win with those electoral votes but most certainly can't win without them.
the biggest lie in the media this whole election is that it is close. Obama is and has been leading by at least 7 in the popular vote(before the convention), and has well over 330 electoral votes constantly.
Romney has never come close to being able to count to 270
and theft? Well, the people who stole 2000 want to win in 2016, therefore it is not in their interest to steal 2012. How in God's (41) name could Jeb become President if Mitt is president and Ryan VP? (answer- Jeb can't.)
Therefore the theft is not in for this cycle as Mitt don't own the mechanisms for theft (IMHO of course.)
This is 1964 all over again and in history, we have Goldwater, Dukakis, Mondale, and more recently on the right, Bob Dole.
All thought they were going to win too (at least in public). All NEVER stood a chance
(Neither did George McGovern no matter how much we all dreamed he might, and neither did Eugene McCarthy.)
This race is over.
Now go vote.
and the stupid rightwing media(which includes all of the media like NBC,ABC, CBS and CNN) needs to say it is close so people watch and worry election night and they sell more commercials(how much money do the networks make on political ads).
If people want truth, they should demand the media reports honestly how far ahead Obama is,
and if not, all that does is make all media into Fox and Rasmussen with phony talk and phony polls.
Shouldn't we demand better?
and as for the fake non-starter-
do you really think people will stay home and not vote for Obama if someone in public (like me)
says Obama is so far ahead?
I think that supposition is wrong, and the opposite is true.America loves winners, and piling on.
If people think someone won, they will try 10x harder to vote, not the opposite, so they can say they voted for a winner.(just look at how football fans over the years say they are Cowboy fans no matter where they live, because Americans love winners, even if they have 2 local football teams.
Same with baseball and the Yankees. (pity me, the poor Met and Jet fan).
Obama won. it's over. Now go vote.
(and Obama's fans will go and vote no matter the obstacle.).
Can anyone here honestly say Obama is not going to win?
and I have said and thought this for who knows how long.
The media saying it is close has got too many really smart people here worrying.
And that to me, makes people less likely to vote, not the other way around.
one note- I do wish Howard Dean's 50 state strategy was still in place, because Obama could have won over 500 votes this year with a major 50 state effort (and IMHO that could have included Texas for a sweep of all large electoral states. Pity they are not trying for that.
In a few elections, Texas will be democrat for decades to come.)It might even happen in 2020 if they put in 1/2 the effort.(and Jeb is defeated in 2016).

(8,224 posts)at lunch. Every single break was wall to wall Mitt and BHO. Fortunately I have cable and like some of the higher number channels where there is much less of this.
