I honestly didn't expect Obama to get much of a bump after Romney's nothingness. I guess I underestimated the intelligence of the American electorate (somewhat).

even though really nothing has changed. It's been a weak jobs recovery since the end of the recession/depression.

I think he can sustain some kind of lead until the debates, even with the mediocre job report.

I certainly have been wrong many, many times before. But I really don't think the jobs report is going to do much. After two weeks of wall-to-wall politics with the conventions, I just think people might tune out. Not political junkies like us, but the general population. And they're the ones who are moving the numbers, not us.

Anyway, the next few days will show what's happening, I guess. But I'd be surprised if people have enough of a political attention span to keep watching the cable networks yap about this stuff. I think post convention, people might need a break. Another reason it's good that it's the weekend!
