Romney Campaign Admits It: They're Losing

"SNIP.....................................

At their convention, Obama campaign officials were leaking news to certain reporters that their internals were showing Obama up nine points in their daily trackers. It didn't broad attention because 1) it seemed a bit crazy, and 2) it doesn't fit the narrative that this is a close race. Now, we're hearing that conservatives are also seeing Obama Ohio leads in the "high single digits".
It's been over two weeks since we saw a legit poll out of Ohio, and that Q-poll, giving Obama a 50-44 advantage, first hit the field on August 15. That's a political lifetime ago. I suspect we'll see several new Ohio polls by the end of next week, which will hopefully confirm publicly what everyone else seems to be seeing privately.

Perhaps the widening gap is the reason the Romney campaign went dark in most of Ohio last week. Or maybe the gap widened because Team Red inexplicably decided to take a late-term vacation. Or maybe it didn't make a lick of difference because Ohioans are kinda glad Obama saved their auto industry, and no amount of money will change that fact. Who Knows? I certainly can't tease out any serious hint of a strategy by the Romney people beyond "we're going to lose anyway, so let's do so in spectacular fashion!". (And no, the strategy is not "the Republicans are going to steal the election", so stop that nonsense.)

There are just two things left in the GOP playbook: the presidential debates and their billionaires. The $150 million and counting spent against Obama thus far doesn't seem to have dented him much. In fact, their entire case was unraveled by Democrats at their convention last week. Check this out, from the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll:

spent HUGE amounts of money, but it didn't pay off for either of them. Wouldn't that be end-all if the carpet-bombing of TV ads made possible by Citizens United turned our to be just one big waste of Koch, etc. money!

All the money in the world cannot change shit into Shinola!

Romney's polls must reveal that Obama is gaining steam and that Romney is going nowhere.

After revealing himself as a real human boy to the country--and to lose points in the polls--must be very defeating.

They have access to the same polls that we all do. We see the electoral situation. Romney really has no way to win. He's losing so much ground, and we still have a few weeks before the first debate. That's why Romney did Meet The Press. He is attempting to stop the bleeding.

Americans tuned into those conventions, and basically our country decided that Romney and Ryan are asses and that they're willing to give Obama another four years.

McCain was doing much better at this point during the 08 campaign. Romney us now in free fall.

I think the big issue is trust. I don't think the majority of Americans trust Romney and Ryan. Romney won't release his tax returns. Their convention was a joke and our convention was damning to them--and exposed their lies with incredible humor and facts.

It's all very interesting...and very fluid. Who knows what the status will be next week!

They are deathly afraid of what is coming up. They realize that all the marbles depend on Mitt hitting the debates out of the park.

I see Mitt as skating all around his record, ignoring questions he doesn't like, and waiting for his chance to use the zingers his people wrote for him.

That's about it. He has no real plan. He has nothing but convoluted explanations, circular in nature, about what his budget plans are, and is a total zero on foreign policy.

I can't wait until he gets up there and tells the American people that sorry, your insurance provider can drop you for your existing medical condition, you'll just have to find a 'market-based solution' to your problem, at whatever the cost.

Ann Romney isn't helping.

That woman is just plain unlikable. I'd be willing to bet that Mitt loses a few tenths percentage points every time she opens her mouth.

Whatever strategist Mitt has that thinks letting her speak is a good idea must never talk to any woman not a member of a country club.

Ryan is turning out to be a Himbo, much on the order of Palin.

The meme that he is nothing but a braggart, a liar, and a fraud who doesn't even understand the ideas that he promotes is gaining traction.
