The consequences of overreaching (or how Romney hammered the final nail into his own campaign)

The Republican comments, the "timely" fauxtrage with Netanyahu, and, of course,

The Story of the Dubious Wizened Casino Magnate & the Good Mormon

This is their biggest overreach yet. People are reminded of endless war, of dead offspring, friendships obliterated and what for?

Obama was vetted on this in 2008 and has been ever since; sure, they've peeled away a few idiots, some indoctrinated nutjobs and a sprinkling of the senile, but if there's one area in which I sincerely doubt Obama has lost ground since 2008, it's in his ability to serve as a strong foreign policy President.

Romney and Rinse have, with their manufactured statements, left themselves open to massive scrutiny. They conjure a Bush, a Dick and a codpiece. They betray their complete lack of experience and credibility on this area and render unto the campaign a giant spotlight, fixed on the disregard they've shown those Americans who remain in the firing line. They bring to the fore Secretary Clinton, a woman whose job approval remains higher than just about any politician in the country.

They revive the remnants of Osama Bin Laden, and his is a name that's mysteriously become sacrosanct to the GOP. We know why.

If this is the best that they can do, if this is the master plan, forge about it. 2008 might not be Obama's electoral high watermark after all.
