Wrestling mogul Linda McMahaon's personal fortune has been significantly depleted this election cycle, as she's worked very hard to remake her image in her ongoing run to be the next senator from Connecticut. Her favorables were in the tank during her initial, unsuccessful bid against Richard Blumenthal. She's poured her personal fortune into attack ads and mailers against Democrat Chris Murphy, and in positive ads intended to rehabilitate her own image. If the polls are any indication, it's working for her.

So the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee is jumping in with a $320,000 ad buy to help Murphy. Here's the ad, which reminds voters of who the "real Linda McMahon" is.

That's a good reminder to Connecticut voters as to why they overwhelmingly rejected her last time she tried to buy a Senate seat. As is this story about how brazenly dishonest and deceptive her campaign can be. She's using a tiny fragment of a quote American University lecturer and author of Why Congress Matters Ilona Nickels gave to Hearst Connecticut Newspapers in a fact check of a McMahon ad about Murphy's committee meetings attendance record. Ms. Nickels said, “Every failure to attend can’t be chalked up to, he’s a lazy SOB. He doesn’t want to do his work. He’s a slacker. [...] Members are overtaxed.” The part McMahon used in the mailer:

The complaint, written by McMahon campaign manager Corry Bliss, calls for an investigation into whether he “has accepted a prohibited gift and used his official position to secure himself personal and political financial benefit.”

“No average American would have been able to secure a loan such as Congressman Murphy’s,” Bliss said in the letter. He added that Murphy’s ability to secure a mortgage at all, 14 months after being sued for mortgage default, “is precisely the sort of shameful conduct that sows public distrust in Congress.”

The call for a congressional ethics investigation marks the apex of McMahon’s continued efforts over the past weeks to draw attention to Murphy’s financial past. But the move will not have any formal consequences for Murphy, as the Office of Congressional Ethics cannot move forward on the complaint within 60 days of an election.

As an example of one “violation … of ethical conduct,” Bliss noted that Murphy served on the House Committee on Financial Services and voted in favor of the Toxic Asset Relief Program which gave Webster Bank $400 million in bailout funds, one month after receiving the credit line from the bank. Shortly before the TARP vote, the bank’s political action committee contributed $1,350 to Murphy’s campaign.

The McMahon campaign argued that Murphy’s conduct violated the House Ethics Manual, which states that members “should not in any way use their office for private gain” and that loans that are not “generally available to the public … are prohibited.”

The Murphy campaign has denied all allegations of wrongdoing and has tried to shift the media spotlight to McMahon’s past financial difficulties. McMahon and her husband Vince filed for personal bankruptcy in 1976 with about $1 million in debt. But after founding World Wrestling Entertainment, the McMahons now have an estimated net worth of up to $370 million.

I remember about 5 years ago there were all these videos of her on Youtube. They were sick. She was in the wrestling ring swearing and making sexual gestures. There was one video where she came out wearing a two piece bikini and she was making gestures and wiggling her tongue and bumping and grinding to the music. She beat the crap out of her husband on stage, hitting him with a chair and then her son came out and he hit her. The three of them were beating up on each other,swearing, and acting like morons. Yeah, it was all a joke and make believe. However, those videos were pulled right when she ran for office. She DOES NOT WANT ANYONE TO SEE THESE VIDEOS.

Here she preaches about family values and morals knowing this video would really destroy any chance she has with people who are unaware of her past. I had no idea who she was until I saw these videos.

She is a nasty person. Everyday I get about 4 or 5 HUGE fliers attacking Chris Murphy. They run ads on her 24/7 here in CT. I see lots of yard signs and bumper stickers. I hope I am wrong but she may just buy herself into office this time.I like Chris Murphy and he seems well liked. Thats why I don;t understand why he is not beating her.

Are people really relying on these ads? UNREAL!

7. Ok, I'm a pretty big wrestling fan....

....and I can guarantee Linda McMahon NEVER wore a bikini on any WWE show.

There was a storyline where she was wheeled around in a wheelchair in a catatonic state while Vince McMahon made out with a hot girl named Trish Stratus in front of her. She's also slapped some people on screen and kicked a guy in the nuts once.

I hope she loses big, but just to clarify, what you reported did not happen.

There was once a storyline where she implied her father "loaned her out" to his business associates when she was under aged.

I'd never vote for anyone who had the character to marry a psycho like Vince McMahon.

I am almost certain it was Linda in the bikini but I could be wrong I guess. DO you recall her making out with a guy (a younger guy I thought they said was her son or a actor who was suppose to be her son) I remember thinking incest when I saw it. Like I said, when I saw it I had no idea who she was and it was right before she announced she was running maybe 2 or 3 years ago. I remember thinking this video would be very damaging if she ran for public office.

I should also note, she had pretty much kept her husband out of the spotlight. You never see them together and she never has him campaign with her (or at least I have not seen her parade him out when she makes these appearances)

17. There was an angle....

....where an enemy of Vince named Eric Bischoff (about ten to fifteen years younger than her and Vince) confronted her in her home (he was supposed to be stalking the McMahon family and playing mind games with Vince or some such shit) and basically in so many words threatened to seduce or rape her. I don't recall if there was a kiss but it was likely some sort of deal where he was forcing himself on her until someone showed up and beat him up. It was likely her son Shane who showed up and ran the guy out of the house. Linda McMahon is a HORRIBLE actress, this is why I recall it vaguely.

As far as incest storylines....rumor has it there were ones involving Vince and Stephanie in the script but dropped.

They keep Vince a zillion miles away from all this because he would certainly sink her campaign by saying something stupid, but her son Shane, daughter Stephanie, and her son in law, Paul Levesque (the wrestler known as Triple H) do make appearances with her on occasion.

12. I'm a pro wrestling fan but I want Linda McMahon to LOSE

Big fan of pro wrestling since 1984.
The NWA/WCW (National Wrestling Alliance/World Championship Wrestling),
The WWF now WWE (World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment),
The ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling),
Even GLOW from 1986 (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling).

It's fun to watch the McMahons on the TV screen mix it up with the wrestlers.
But if I lived in Connecticut there would be "NO CHANCE IN HELL" I would vote for Linda McMahon for Senate.

Linda getting in is as good as Vince getting in.
I like my McMahons in the wrestling world not in the political arena influencing real world events.
I would say the same even if she was a Democrat!
Luckily the Republican identification makes it that much easier.

He claims to hate politics, yet fantasizes he could be President like his buddy Trump does, and I think he believes he needs an insider in Washington because he thinks his company is so goddamn important.

He started out ahead by 10 points but she has poured on the negative ads, and now accusations of a sweetheart deal that is BS but not enough time to clear him
