I have been hurting all day

I beg everyone to not sit idle and allow this to be drowned out in the 24-hour news cycle. Please do everything you can to keep this in the front of voter’s minds all the way to the election. I plan to send what I have written below out to everyone that will read it every week until Election Day. Please VOTE.

“I know a lot of people have weighed in on the disgusting commentary by Romney and it feels good to sound off on this situation but what transpired was so beyond the pale of human decency that it should leave all Americans aghast. I have likely read hundreds of comments at this point, from the well-known and the unknown, trying to get a handle on my emotions and to help me form a coherent thought on what has happened over the last 24 hours.
What we know now is that the Embassy in Egypt released a statement to the Egyptian press in the early afternoon in order to quell what they perceived to be an escalating threat. Hours later, during what was still Patriots Day in the U.S. and meant to be devoid of political statements, Romney released a statement to the press that should haunt him for the rest of days. While attacks were in progress in both Egypt and Libya and while the State Department and the White House were evaluating the situation and forming a response to the situation, Romney’s statement belittled U.S. Embassy personal under attack at that very moment and derided the President as our country was under attack and American civilians and military personal were in harm’s way. This was not a gaffe, this wasn’t a mistake, there is no “I’m sorry” coming tomorrow. This was a cruel and politically-motivated ploy to degrade our President and insult our Foreign Service employees. The motives are deplorable and to double-down in the press conference the next day was a slap in the face our country didn’t need or deserve on the heels of the news regarding the death of our Ambassador to Libya and 3 other Foreign Service employees. The people that died were not numbers on a spreadsheet or statistics to quote; they were good people that died serving their country with honor: Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and Sean Smith (two others whose names have not been released pending notification to relatives). Romney is left wanting and not fit to stand in their shadow. Show him what you think of his actions on November 6th, VOTE.”

I'm taking action. I'm doing the only thing in my power: to voice my opinion and vote. His action were wrong and due to his position as a major party candidate, his comments matter and have impact on the morale of State Department and foreign services employees across the world. As long as I motivate people to vote and vote for the President than that is what is important.

We definitely should not be so overconfident that we forget to work to get everyone out to vote.

What despicable comments and outright lies, that has to be hurtful to anyone that has lost someone in a terror attack. It is sad to me that people who want to solve issues with diplomacy and who don't attack a major religion are viewed as apologists. I would be no more inclined to be apologetic to a terrorist than anyone else. But, I wouldn't insult someone who is a Muslim either nor would I make videos that they would find insulting to their religion. I might not like the extreme fundamentalist of Islam, Christianity, or any other religion. But, those are splinter groups or whatever not the entire religion or the people of a country. So, now all the sudden everyone who takes a neutral or semi neutral stand on a religion is an apologist. If we want to work with people to come to solutions for everyone without a war all the sudden we are the bad guys?

Romney is playing fast and loose with the safety of people serving in other countries, especially hot spots. His words could have a bad effect on our foreign relations. His reckless behavior should be noted. I think he is treasonous. Not because of what he said about Obama which is bad enough and a lie. But, the implication that our diplomats did something wrong when they were under attack is just disgusting. They were in the middle of a battle a real battle that would end up with 4 of our citizens dead, in what is likely a terrorist attack. He had the gall to second guess what they did to try to cool the situation in an attempt to save lives. He is dangerous and should resign from his campaign immediately.
