Does everyone remember PNAC (Project for a New American Century)?

Disbanded in 2005, the players - noecons - are still very much active (American Enterprise Institute), and still loyal to their cause. Here's the list of members from the website:

Elliott Abrams
Gary Bauer
William J. Bennett
Jeb Bush
Dick Cheney
Eliot A. Cohen
Midge Decter
Paula Dobriansky
Steve Forbes
Aaron Friedberg
Francis Fukuyama
Frank Gaffney
Fred C. Ikle
Donald Kagan
Zalmay Khalilzad
I. Lewis Libby
Norman Podhoretz
Dan Quayle
Peter W. Rodman
Stephen P. Rosen
Henry S. Rowen
Donald Rumsfeld
Vin Weber
George Weigel
Paul Wolfowitz

The group formed in 1997, in protest of Clinton's handling of foreign policy and cuts to the military. They are warmongers, hungry for world domination. Their plan was set in motion shortly after Bush was inserted as president, with Cheney at the helm. They may (or may not) have rigged the election, they may (or may not) have allowed 9/11 to happen, and they definitely lied about weapons of mass destruction and fabricated an elaborate justification for invading Iraq.

Either way, they were giddy with excitement as we went to war with Afghanistan and Iraq. The drum beating for a war with Iran has been simmering in the background for awhile now. The cannot allow the Arab spring to be successful and they cannot allow Obama to be re-elected. I wouldn't be surprised if the violence in Libya, Egypt and Yemen were part of yet another scheme to stir the pot in the ME and get Romney 'elected'. If he somehow manages to maneuver his way into the White House, I think it's a sure bet we'll be at war with Iran in no time.

Here's an excerpt of the PNAC Statement of Principals:

American foreign and defense policy is adrift. Conservatives have criticized the incoherent policies of the Clinton Administration. They have also resisted isolationist impulses from within their own ranks. But conservatives have not confidently advanced a strategic vision of America's role in the world. They have not set forth guiding principles for American foreign policy. They have allowed differences over tactics to obscure potential agreement on strategic objectives. And they have not fought for a defense budget that would maintain American security and advance American interests in the new century.

We seem to have forgotten the essential elements of the Reagan Administration's success: a military that is strong and ready to meet both present and future challenges; a foreign policy that boldly and purposefully promotes American principles abroad; and national leadership that accepts the United States' global responsibilities.

Of course, the United States must be prudent in how it exercises its power. But we cannot safely avoid the responsibilities of global leadership or the costs that are associated with its exercise. America has a vital role in maintaining peace and security in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. If we shirk our responsibilities, we invite challenges to our fundamental interests. The history of the 20th century should have taught us that it is important to shape circumstances before crises emerge, and to meet threats before they become dire. The history of this century should have taught us to embrace the cause of American leadership.

It's not difficult to understand why Romney's economic plan includes INCREASES in defense spending, with cuts to everything else.

I'm not sure where I was going with this, other than my antennae went up over the events of the last couple of days, and I remembered PNAC, and went back and read through their website; and remembered how crazy the world got after Bush became president.

I am inclined to believe the neocons are involved now, I don't for a minute think they ever gave up their plan.

Notice how they emphasize "Iraq"--not just "middle east," but "Iraq/middle east." Why? No other country is identified; just regions. But Iraq is singled out.

This shows the neo-cons were obsessed with Iraq. They wanted war even before Bush was installed as POTUS. Coupled with the recent revelations that Bush and Cheney were informed numerous times about an impending attack on the US only demonstrates that they wanted an attack to justify an invasion of Iraq. They were willing to sacrifice thousands of Americans so they could achieve Iraq "wargasm."

They knew an attack was coming and did nothing so they could invade Iraq as a consequence.

He was Chairman and Cofounder of PNAC.

There were other members not listed. As I recall, some seventeen of them were appointed to key positions in Bush's 2000 Defense Department, etc. cabinet. If you read their 2000 report Rebuilding America's Defenses (prepared for Bush before his inauguration), they laid out their targets. They included Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Libya, and a couple of others I can't remember. When you read now that most of Romney's foreign policy advisors were Bush guys -most of them were PNAC guys.

I very much agree with Avalux.

How positively giddy they all were, while getting their makeup done before W made his speech on TV that we were going to attack Iraq? They all looked like happy schoolchildren getting ready to go on a field trip. Fuckers.

They're not behind this. If they are, then we've woefully overestimated their intelligence and ability to get things done their way. Mitt Romney does not want this race to be about foreign policy similarly to how Obama didn't want the race four years ago to be about foreign policy - if it is, Mitt Romney loses and probably loses in a landslide. These people are evil, but they're not idiots. They realize the best way to get Romney into the White House, so they can continue to push their agenda, is by having every news cycle be about the economy. Remember, it wasn't even a week ago we had an average jobs report ... so, this swing, the fact we're talking foreign policy, only makes it that much more difficult for Romney to win.

They don't want that. If they're behind this, then it just tells me they're not as smart as we thought.

14. Ah, I remember it well. And their agenda lives!

Sep 2012

I first read about in an article that states:

&quot Their globalist) agenda was revealed in September 2000 in a document entitled Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategies, Forces And Resources For A New Century, written by the right-wing conservative think-tank called Project for the New American Century (PNAC).

According to the PNAC web site in 2002, it was the brain child of Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Lewis Libby, William Kristol, and Jeb Bush. Others who are associated with the PNAC and probably had a hand in developing the ideas expressed in the document were Richard Perle, Elliot Abrams, Gary Bauer, William J. Bennet, Dan Quayle, Ellen Bork, and other lesser-known, like-minded right-wing conservative ideologues - and it's difficult not to assume that George W. Bush was a major player even though his name was left off the list for some reason.

The "Rebuilding America's Defenses" document reveals their shameless and blatant plan for world domination and imperialism. It reveals that even before they gained the power of the presidency, the leaders of the Bush Administration apparently planned to invade and occupy Iraq regardless of whether Saddam Hussein was still in power, so they could gain a better and more permanent foothold in that oil-rich region. It discusses "American global leadership" that will "shape a new century favorable to American principles and interests," and it calls for a "dominant American role in the Mid-East." It describes American armed forces abroad as "the cavalry on the new American frontier." And, as incredible and amazing as this is, the imperialistic PNAC blueprint supports and expands an earlier document written by Wolfowitz and Libby that says the U.S. must "discourage advanced industrial nations from challenging our leadership or even aspiring to a larger regional or global role."

But wait. There’s more. In his self-delusion, Bush actually believed he was "doing God's will" and fulfilling prophecies by waging war on Iraq. That’s because his "religious" advisors convinced him that his war in Iraq was "God's Will" and would fulfill the prophecy of the warring "sixth angel" who "poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates..." (Revelation 16:12) That’s one of the reason’s Bush claimed he was “doing God’ will,” and it has been confirmed that in early 2003, in a top-secret phone call to the president of France, Bush asked for French troops to join American soldiers in attacking Iraq as a “mission from God.” Bush stated that Iraq must be invaded to thwart “Gog and Magog,” the symbolic evil forces also mentioned in the book of Revelation."
