A Fox News poll shows Obama and Romney exactly tied at 46% on who would better improve the economy and create jobs.

A CNN poll finds the two candidates nearly even, 50% to 49%, on who would better handle the economy.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll also finds Obama and Romney in a statistical tie, 47% to 45%, on the same question.

A Rasmussen poll shows Obama leading by 47% to 45% on who is more trusted on job creation.

1. Romney never had an advantage on the economy

Some of the earlier polls gave Romney a statistical edge on the question, but the topic of the economy never worked for Romney. Mainly because people understood:

a) It was a huge mess when Obama took office and it really is a whole lot better now

b) Romney's business experience had too many negatives. He just couldn't hammer on the economy without raising questions about his own tax cheating, company-killing, and outsourcing.

c) Republicans did everything in their power to sabotage the economy.

The only reason Romney polled better on this earlier was because that was the main narrative the MSM was running with. Repeat after me:

"This is going to be about the economy."
"Romney is the businessman."
"This is going to be about the economy."
"Romney is the businessman."
"This is going to be about the economy."
"Romney is the businessman."
"This is going to be about the economy."
"Romney is the businessman."
"This is going to be about the economy."
"Romney is the businessman."

But if that was so damn effective, how come Romney stopped talking about it by the middle of July?
