Someone pointed me at the "Common Sense Club." Turns out, they didn't have *any.*

Tom Joad TEXT ONLY:
Yes, this makes perfect sense. A dangerously hard-right provocateur in this country, makes a laughably bad film which depicts Mohammed as a child abuser and a fraud - and you want to blame POTUS for the guards at the embassy not firing indiscriminately into the crowd.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula (who was using the false identity "Sam Bacile&quot "grossly misled" the cast and crew to get "Innocence of the Muslims" made in the first place, and is now under federal investigation, because the very act of making his film violates the terms of his parole on a bank fraud conviction.

Let's imagine for a moment, that an Iranian citizen put together a really awful movie that told the story of a motherless Jesus Christ, who was a sexual philanderer, approved of child sexual abuse, and called for the slaughter of anyone who got in his way. Doesn't sound like the Jesus I know - and I'd be willing to bet that a group of bible-thumpin' rednecks from backwater Mississippli would be happy to jump in their pickups and go pay that fella a visit. What do you bet?

If you're looking to assign blame, try Morris Sadek, an Egyptian-American Coptic activist living in the Washington, D.C. area. He's virulently anti-Islamic and was one of the first to pull this piece of dreck from obscurity, into the light. Tossing fuel on the fire was Terry Jones, the Quran-burning pastor from Gainesville, FL, who has sparked controversy in the past and gotten Americans killed overseas by his hate-filled rhetoric and actions.

This time around, when he was asked whether or not he thought that violent protests and death might result from his actions, he said: "It definitely could happen, yes, of course. It’s happened before." Yes, his "free speech" (read: sticking his thumb in the eye of another man's religion) has gotten people killed in the past. But he's going to keep right on being a monumental pain in the ass because "Praise Jesus!" our Lord and Savior was a fan of violent protest, too.

And then Terry talked about the story of Jesus throwing the money-changers out of the temple - sort of missing the point of the story completely. If Terry wants to protest the money-changers - he needs to work for a Constitutional Amendment to overturn the Citizen's United ruling by SCOTUS.

As to the other filth in this thread, it's actually refreshing to come face to face with the racists and bigots. I mean, it's one thing to be misinformed and misled by your political leaders and news sources. I feel sorry for the folks that only have Fox and Friends as a source of information - because it's not their fault they are dangerously incompetent when it comes to discussing national and world events.

But the hard-core, "SAND N------R" (sic) and "HE IS AN ISLAM!" comments are just pathetically, tragically sad. I'm sorry your parents taught you to hate - because that's the only place to get this level of vitriol. To suggest that the President of the United States is "anti American" isn't just wrong - it's dangerously wrong. It also suggests a complete and total lack of reasoning skills and a disconnect with the world at large. You have both my scorn, and my pity.

For a group calling itself the "Common Sense Club," you don't seem to possess the slightest whiff of it. The causes for this tragedy are complicated and many. The President of the United States did not cause, allow to happen, or apologize for it in any way, shape or form. The perpetrators, working with our Libyan allies, will be brought to justice. That's sort of a major difference between the parties.

When the World Trade Center was bombed, President Clinton swore the perpetrators would be found, tried, and punished - and they were. When the World Trade Center was destroyed, President Bush said (about the perpetrator) "I really just don't spend that much time on him, to be honest with you," and then invaded a country that had nothing to do with the attack. Willard M. Romney said (about bringing Osama bin Laden to justice): "It's not worth moving heaven and Earth and spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person." President Obama was called "naive" to suggest that, if he had actionable intelligence, he would pursue bin Laden even into Pakistan. And he did. GM is alive, bin Laden is dead.
