(15,031 posts)It's how they castigated Bush père, dismissed Dole, forgot Bush the Lesser, and brushed aside McCain. It's how they'll move on from Romney -- blame his failings not on his personality, or worse yet on the miserable policies he fronts (and hasn't the courage to publicly acknowledge because he -- and the rest of the Republicans -- know it would be political and social suicide), but instead will don their hair shirts, flail themselves with unrestrained abandon, and proclaim for all to hear that a real conservative would have had no trouble winning hearts and minds and triumphing over Obama and "currish liberalism."
They won't offer excuses. They'll point to "reasons," and thereby keep their minions enthralled.

(11,464 posts)which is what the Bush family has wanted all along, no matter the outward signs.
It's almost as if Rove is orchestrating Herr Mittens to lose and lose big, thereby repudiating both Mittens, the teaparty and Ryan.
For Bush to come back for the nomination, he needs Ryan to be repudiated and the whole republicanlibertariantea party thought of as crazy, nuts and loco.
Then he comes in as the calming force
It's really pathetic how easy it is to see this(and something I have said now for 4 years).
either way though, Hillary has got 2016 in the bag, against Jeb or one of the nut jobs.
Herr Mittens will be relegated to the trash heap, much like whatshisname Goldwater was after his mega lose in 1964.

(10,558 posts)remember when they used to 'blame Clinton' for dang near everything? Well this time they will be partially right. (chknltl still basking in that warm fuzzy warmth brought on by President Clinton's recent speech at the DNC).

(76 posts)Heck, they've been saying that of McCain for the last four years - conveniently ignoring the fact that McCain continues to hold one of the most conservative voting record in Congress.

(35 posts)yes these powerful men and women who love to rattle their sabres, and tell everyone how brave they are when they send the poor kids off to war, will blame the media..

(54,341 posts)All these macho, belligerent, armed-to-the-teeth, God-on-their-side, tough guys whine like mistreated babies when we wimpy, underfunded libbrul pussies seem to whup their asses armed with nothing but a few good ideas and a coherent way of presenting them. That's why they need a few billion dollars from Adelson, Murdoch's media and the Kochs , and even then they best they can hope for is to hold us to a draw.

(25,415 posts)They will soon have to blame their own voters.
Proud Liberal Dem
(24,406 posts)but the "conservative" vote ended up chopped up into too many pieces so to fail to seriously threaten Romney's nomination. Like one talk show host I listened to (Michael Smerconish), Romney didn't "win" the primary, he "survived" it.

(25,415 posts)I mean, they are awful every 4 years but this time they were really bad. Newt? Herman Cain (who can forget him)? There was Bachmann of course and "the hair", Rick Perry. I guess Mittens was it.
Proud Liberal Dem
(24,406 posts)but, ultimately, somebody had to win the primaries, so Romney was voted "the most likely to succeed". I have to admit that I was concerned about his nomination because I thought that he'd tack to the center after the primaries and pretend to be a Massachusetts Moderate like Scott Brown and fool enough people into believing that his tenure at Bain would be great for this country/economy. I also thought that he'd be more presentable and "sane" based on his past history. Thankfully, I've been wrong so far thanks to a strong Obama campaign but Mitt has really been his own worst enemy.

(9,992 posts)Accompanied by a whole new round of mass disenfranchisement tactics-- this time aimed at women, 'cause yanno only people with lady bits will vote for Hillary.
Or maybe they think that they can tip 2016 by making sure every woman that has a miscarriage b/c then and now gets thrown in prison?
No matter what excuse they peddle for the Mittastrophe, the Repukes will be twice as nasty and three times less cooperative in Obama's second term. We must work to give him the House and Senate too!
