Bernie was nearly blacked out in Iowa, when it came to the Des Moines Register--which is the most widely read newspaper across the state. It's still not perfect. However, his events are covered by a regular Des Moines Register reporter who writes about all of his events across the state.

Furthermore, local Iowa newspapers have been fairly decent about covering his events accurately, even giving positive coverage. That has been happening for months.

The Des Moines Register has followed the Bernie-blackout trend. However, now that we're in full swing in the caucus season, he is getting plenty of coverage, including the fact that his rallies/political events are being well attended. Lots of great optics in print and broadcast.

I think the local positive coverage in Iowa has helped to strengthen Bernie's numbers during the last couple of months.

I also believe that the last few weeks of the campaign season (we're only 23 days away from the Iowa caucus) will only benefit Bernie. No media will be blocking Bernie anymore, as reporters just do their jobs. Bernie also has pool reporters from national broadcast and print outlets following him around (network news, NYTimes, WSJ, AP, CNN, etc). This will only increase up until the caucus vote on Feb 1.
