Media Silent as Stunning New Poll Shows Bernie Sanders Surging in Crucial Primary States

POLITICSMedia Silent as Stunning New Poll Shows Bernie Sanders Surging in Crucial Primary States

Bernie Sanders’ rapid rise in the latest poll of likely primary voters is casting Hillary Clinton’s alleged inevitability into serious doubt.

What started as a little spark in the greater American political spectrum is now growing into a full-fledged wildfire, as indicated by the most recent poll data from NBC, The Wall Street Journal, and Marist.

With a mere three-point advantage over Sanders in Iowa, establishment favorite Hillary Clinton is sure to face a run for her money in the first primaries, with Iowa and New Hampshire voters going to the polls in three weeks.

But it is in New Hampshire, currently, where the heat behind the Sanders campaign is really starting to warm America up to a possible Sanders presidency, where the democratic socialist candidate polls at a anywhere from a four-point (50-46, NBC/WSJ/Marist) to thirteen-point advantage (50-37, Fox News) over Clinton. Sanders has also maintained a healthy lead in NH across several polls for the past two months.

Sun Jan 10, 2016, 10:06 PM
Jan 2016

President Obama carried the southern states because of his extreme popularity among African American voters, but this time Hillary is the one with strong support in the south.

Bernie is no Barack.

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/01/can-bernie-find-a-way-to-win-in-red-states.html#

Bernie Sanders's potential "path to the nomination" is obvious enough at its beginning: He needs to win or do better than expected in Iowa on February 1, then win New Hampshire eight days later. This will give him an overwhelming head of steam as the contest moves to — oh, wait.

Yes, the race moves south after a brief detour to Nevada (a caucus state where Clinton has a 3-2 lead in the two polls taken so far and heavy labor support). South Carolina kicks things off on February 27, quickly followed by the so-called SEC Primary (Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia). Yes, four non-southern states (Alaska, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Sanders's own Vermont) will also hold contests that day, but the southern states have nearly four times as many total delegates and will get the lion's share of attention. Michigan and Mississippi follow on March 8, and then, on March 15, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio. What these March 8 and March 15 states share with the South is a relatively heavy presence of minority voters in Democratic primaries.

And therein lies Bernie's problem: a complete lack of any demonstrated ability to appeal to African-American and Latino voters, as compared to Hillary Clinton's long-standing ties to minority communities and their leaders.

“I believe Hillary is a lock to sweep the Deep South,” said Richard Fording, the chair of the political science department at the University of Alabama.

In 2008 he also won in North Carolina.

http://elections.nytimes.com/2008/results/president/map.html

There is no point in winning primaries in southern states. They will not support a Democrat in the general election. Their primary results are rather irrelevant.

Southern Democrats need to do much better. Bernie's message could just win more votes than Hillary's same old, same old.

Hard to say.

Because the media did not tell them.

But should Bernie win Iowa and NH they will have no choice but to cover it and that is when the favor-ability or lack of it in Hillary's case comes into play.
For those who have an unfavorable view of her they would then have another choice.

But I can already see that when she loses it will be chocked up to misogyny and racism...not just that she is politically unfavorable.

So I'm not surprised they're not covering Bernie. We are all fully aware how the corrupt media has been about him. It's been going on since May of last year. They don't want any more attention given to the only candidate that wants a better America. And Bernie is the only one going after corporate America. So yeah, as for corporate media, Bernie does not exist. Let the fun begin when the voting starts.

Sanders campaign bets on black voters in South Carolina

It may seem a strange partnership: Mattie Thomas, a 66-year-old black woman in South Carolina going out of her way to gin up support for Sen. Bernard Sanders, a man born and raised in New York to Jewish immigrant parents, and who spent the majority of his life representing a state where 19 out of 20 residents are white.

But Mr. Sanders’ message resonates so much with her that Mrs. Thomas, 66, is knocking on every door in her neighborhood in Florence and planning trips to remote corners of South Carolina to make the case to fellow Democrats that the Vermont senator is the candidate their party needs.

“I’m not scared of ISIL, as African-Americans we see a cop car and we’re afraid — we’re afraid of that one cop who’s afraid of a 12-year-old boy with a toy gun,” Mrs. Thomas said. “I’m scared of going to a movie theater or a shopping mall. I do all of my shopping online. I fear that, it’s real to me.”

Mr. Sanders addresses the black community’s fears and proposes solutions to improve their lives, she said. Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton offers less clarity, and seems more ingrained and invested in a political system that’s clearly broken, Mrs. Thomas said.

“Fifteen dollars an hour minimum-wage would lift so many people in South Carolina who are really struggling,” Mrs. Thomas said. “I’ve worked and paid into Medicare my entire life and still I have to pay for medical care. Health care for everybody would be a great improvement. The school-to-prison pipeline needs to stop. Privatizing prisons was the first mistake this country ever made. It’s amazing to me how many people in this state need help. You have no earthly idea how much. Bernie Sanders speaks to them.”

Clearly she's the ONLY person in SC to feel this way though....right?

Oh wait...there is another:

“You know, I was supporting Hillary at first, but then Bernie came and spoke at Allen University and addressed criminal justice reform and the Black Lives Matter movement, and his words resonated with me,” said Ms. Maxwell, 31 and black. “It was a matter of words and passion and the passion he spoke about when he addressed criminal justice reform — well, I think he will be a major champion of it.”

Ms. Maxwell is traveling to universities across the state to help mobilize students to vote for Mr. Sanders — a key demographic Mr. Sanders is relying on in other states as well.

But that's gotta be IT for sure...just those two, no more than that for sure...right?

Just doing my part to help you keep your warm-and-fuzzy!

JOHN MCLAUGHLIN, HOST: Destined for political stardom in 2016.

ELEANOR CLIFT: Hillary Rodham Clinton is the almost certain Democratic nominee, poised to be our next president. Stardom doesn’t get any better than that in the political world.

About an hour ago. The panel talked about Hillary possibly losing, and about Bernie surging.

Amazing.

and stay at home. except she's running the "it's my turn" thing like Mittens did and he lost for it. If she did win by March I feel her chances of winning are next to none.. Or worst case scenario she pulls a Mitt Romney at the Convention and boots the (Sanders people out like Mittens did with Ron Paul. ) oddly 2012 it was either Ron Paul or Obama if Ron Paul had won. 2016 it's Bernie Sanders or... don't know I have no wish to have things go back to 2007

How long can people pretend the war manufacturing police state wants Hillary. Whose side are these people on? It shouldn't be forgotten.

Clinton is on Mass Media
Mass Media = Sham
Clinton=Sham
We want more Sanders on Mass media
....
Sanders is on Mass Media
Mass Media is still = Sham?
Suddenly =/= Sham?

Help me here, is the difference between disgusting corporate entity
and A-OK whether or not they put your candidate on?
(By the way, they do)

Do you guys (the Bernie fans who do this) not see the ridiculous
back and forth you do? The other day, all polls were terrible
(well, not the online ones). Today, they're gospel. Mass media is
and evil corporate boogyman (except during those times that
Bernie is on). Or how every union that endorses Clinton is attacked,
and every one that endorses Bernie is lauded. The cascade of
double standards and flip flopping is difficult to believe.
