(52,155 posts)no mention at all of getting membership input. Now I wonder if all the people who screamed bloody murder about say the planned parenthood endorsement will have any problem with this.

(12,882 posts)"grassroots support for Sanders has always been high amongst Federation members and Sundays action reflects our homegrown perspectives."
"What if you dont support Sanders? The Federations members through their elected leaders make informed recommendations for candidates. But whom you support is your decision. Thats why this union also encourages all members to take part in the presidential nomination process"
And these excerpts are from AFTER the national organization already endorsed the chosen one.

(8,685 posts)After the AFSCME (national union) endorsement of Clinton, Washington state members (WFSE) harassed the council 28 (our state council) office ever since. Many, including me, vowed not to support any primary efforts in support of Clinton.
State councils have the right to endorse a different candidate if they choose. Our membership made it very clear that the majority of us supported Bernie for president which was the context for this endorsement.

(52,155 posts)that polls showing that say 70% of the teachers supported Hillary weren't good enough but now no evidence at all is provided that they asked any person who to endorse but fancy this, we don't hear any problems with this endorsement, why of why could that be?
Fawke Em
(11,366 posts)Many teachers said they were never told about it.
dsc
(52,155 posts)it was linked in their press release. again, it is perfectly fine for this union's executive board to endorse Sanders with no evidence of having asked the members, but let a union endorse Hillary, even after providing a link to a poll, and all hell breaks loose.

(19,460 posts)Wow! Does Bernie want endorsements based on harassment?

(55,981 posts)of whom are avid PP supporters. This action would result in a big backlash that will have a negative effect on the mission. The Clinton campaign must have offered something great to get this endorsement.
Apples and oranges again as the union's endorsement won't affect their mission.

(52,155 posts)she, unlike Bernie, actually introduced legislation. The fact is PP did exactly and precisely what this union did. Incidently, I don't have a problem with what this union did, I do have a problem with the utter hypocrisy of Bernie bros who have argued that PP should be defunded for doing this while extolling this endorsement. It is pure hypocrisy
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)I support PP and their mission but think their leadership sold their souls for political gain. "Bernie bros who have argued that PP should be defunded " Defunded? I don't think you can show anywhere Sanders supporters want PP to be defunded. But if the PP leadership wants to play politics then I don't blame those that use their donations to show support or no support, to donate elsewhere. There are a lot of good causes to donate to.
dsc
(52,155 posts)that rejoiced in comments that they would be defunded. So yes, as when anyone dares to endorse Hillary and not Bernie the Bernie Bros descend upon them. The most vile, by far, what they did to Treyvon's mom. One even said her kid got what he deserved all because that oh so horrible woman had the utter audacity to endorse Hillary and not Bernie. That is how the Bernie Bro brigade rolls and it is totally, utterly, disgusting.
