What do you guys think about this?

I recently renewed my ACLS, and this short video, while containing great information, is sexist as hell. I was the only one who spoke up, and I did that because I can get away it as I use humor (hey! No sexism! How come the firefighters have shirts on!?)

Nobody was there to discuss sexism, but I didn't feel like giving it a pass. I never feel like giving sexism a pass.

I will say that I appreciate learning that the song sets the rhythm. NYC_SKP May 2013 #1

I think the "push hard and push fast" thing was no accident, and it was utterly pointless. NYC_SKP May 2013 #3

As to the buxom blonde girls, well, it perpetuates the same old shit and I there was absolutely no need to "go there" with this (or any) PSA.

Some would argue that it's to "get your attention", which makes me scream EXACTLY!

That's the problem, the self perpetuating problem.

The rhythm song is very helpful, I wasn't sure how the 'push hard and push fast' close up of large tee shirt covered breasts was supposed to get the kind of attention this PSA wanted. My class was mostly women who are healthcare providers. In the community it would be a mixture of genders.

I'm glad, at least, that they didn't push that angle any further (no puns intended).

Pretty juvenile approach to a serious matter, isn't it?

Worse that juvenile, in fact.

much like everything else these days. A minute ago, there was a Barbie clone, just like the ones in the video, standing on my screen, beside the message box. They are everywhere - at least in the video, they're helpful. But why'd they bring the snotty narrator along?
