Harriet Beecher Stowe (June 14th, 1811 to July1,1896)

Author, abolitionist, and activist, Ms. Stowe is most famous for her novel, "Uncle Tom’s Cabin," which she wrote in response to the Fugitive Slave Law. It was the best-selling novel of the nineteenth century. It has been credited as influencing the start of the Civil War, with its realistic depiction of slavery.
