1. I've listened to the first paper so far

which is outstanding, truly a fascinating analysis. I was not familiar with the theory of social reproduction. The connections the speaker makes between capitalism and gender violence, as exemplified through Strauss Kahn's attack on Dialo is thought provoking.
Thank you so much for posting this. I look forward to hearing the rest of the panel later.

The socialism group may also find it interesting.

3. I'll second that

Fascinating stuff. I also was not familiar with the theory of social reproduction but am interested in learning more. In fact, after having seen this presentation once I would like to view it again.

Thanks much for posting this.

5. You don't have time to watch the video, but you have time to comment.

Well isn't that special.

7. Neoliberal backlash

That's what we're facing. The idea that women are "victims" for asserting their rights, and all that other stuff we hear about sexual "choice" is part of a neoliberal backlash. Really interesting.

9. I found Tithi Bhattacharya's article, "Explaining gender violence in the neoliberal era"

In the International Socialist Review. I'm going to post an excerpt in Good Reads, but here is the link to the article this this talk is based on.
