Trigger warning: sexual violence--This case will truly disgust you.

This is a cross post of an OP I just started in GD. I think it also belongs in HoF.

Why Were Three Teenage Rape Victims Bullied Out of School in Oklahoma?

The audio on the recording is clear and crisp. The boy slurs his words slightly, but the sentiment is unmistakable.

"She was asleep," he says. "She was, like, incoherent. Like, you could not talk to her at all... And I was just like, all right, get on your knees. And she did. And I just fucked the shit out of her, man. It just happened. She was passed out. I pulled her little tiny-ass shorts she had to the side and I just fucked the shit out of her."

The families and friends of three teenage girls in Norman, Oklahoma, have contacted Jezebel to allege that they were each raped by a former classmate at Norman High School. They say that the voice on that recording is their 18-year-old assailant, admitting to one of the rapes, a 16-year-old he allegedly assaulted on Friday, September 19. He allegedly also raped another girl, a 14-year-old student, four days later. After the families of those two girls began publicizing what had happened to them through a Facebook group, a third girl, also 16, came forward to allege that he had raped her in January, in a bathroom at Norman High during lunchtime.

The families say the teenager has been kicked out of Norman High—not for rape, but for disseminating the video of himself penetrating one of his alleged victims, the 16-year-old he raped in September, whom we'll call Grace. (The names of all three girls are being withheld, as they are both minors and alleged victims of sex crimes. The names of their family members have also been changed, and other details that could identify them are also being withheld. Since the teenager has not been criminally charged, Jezebel will also withhold his name until it is made public by law enforcement.)

High Schoolers Walk Out in Protest of Rape Victims Being Bullied

Monday, November 24th, 2014, 639 students (about 30% of the student body) at Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma did what most high schoolers dream of: they walked out of class en masse at 9:20 in the morning. They were protesting the bullying of three rape survivors after they returned to school and the high school’s alleged inaction about bullying and administrative mistreatment of the girls after they came forward. All three girls are reportedly victims of the same assailant.

An unnamed 16-year-old student from Norman High School was sexually assaulted on September 19th, 2014. She was raped and sodomized while incoherent. The assault was videotaped by the 18-year old male attacker and sent out to her peers. The boy admits to the sex acts while she was passed out in an audio file on Youtube, recorded while he was bragging to an un-named friend (warning: very disturbing and explicit content).

When the survivor returned to school, she faced horrific bullying and victim-blaming. She was suspended from school for three days for hitting a male student with her backpack after he approached her and said, “I hear you love being raped in the ass.” That boy has reportedly been allowed to return to class, while the girl has not. When the story got out, a 14-year-old student came forward, stating she had been assaulted by the same male student. Then a third girl also spoke out, saying she had been assaulted in January of last year on school property while dating him. Both of them have also been bullied, threatened and harassed at school to the point where they have had to withdraw from class.

The high school administration claims it wasn’t blaming the victims by suspending the first reporter for striking out at someone who verbally assaulted her in an intentionally degrading manner after a violent attack. The 14-year-old was suspended for being under the influence of drugs on school property (she was reportedly still feeling the effects of the drugs given to her by the assailant), and the school nurse immediately told her mother that she was driving around with boys doing drugs when her mother showed up (and not that the girl had intimated she was raped, which she says she had).

I hear about how many cases go unsolved, even uninvestigated... I hear about how it's even worse in some parts of the world...

Why can't people just treat each other like human beings?

man makes Cosby's accusers suspect. When the victims of such obvious, *admitted* sexual assault are abused not only by friends of the rapiist, but by the *authorities* for daring to report their assault, how would any vulnerable, confused young victim (i.e., the very kind of victim Cosby apparently targeted and groomed) feel safe coming forward?

They commit the crime over and over again, and many (if not most) are never caught.

It is reported that about one in five women are raped, and more are the victims of violence; based on what my friends and family have told me, I see no reason to doubt these statistics.

Heaven knows how many many women each rapist victimises (directly), but probably a large number. This would tend to suggest that rapists form about 1-2pc of the male population, a number not terribly dissimilar to the percentage of sociopaths, and probably with much overlap. The other 98-99% May be decent men, but we need to find a way to curb the sociopaths, who cause enormous suffering to so many innocents.

As a society, we admire bullies, and those that can simply take from others at will, despising the weak, less powerful and vulnerable, regarding them as sheep to be sheared - and deserving it.

Otherwise I agree with you - collectively we do "admire bullies," and blame victims (not only of sexual abuse) every chance we get.

Especially in light of the atmosphere they clearly face in that environment.
