Well - at least they are paying attn to the Paycheck Fairness Act . . .

Can we in HOF - women and our supporters -

Can we all just agree that our paychecks by and large suck compare to our male appears unless we keeping hammering relentlessly HR/Hiring Managers?

Can we all agree - Across race, religion, ethinicity - it's a problem?

Can we all agree that we are only as strong as our weakest link (Latina/Hispanic women) on this issue and we MUST take the major race demographics - create an 'average' - and stand as one?

I'm not liking this 'divide' and conquer - and a whole lot of women at DU are falling for it. A whole lot of women in America are falling for it.

One Gender - one cause - One Fair Paycheck.

i hate the divide and conquer, too. and it has been going on for a long time.
and ya know what? i dont see it on the ground. i have never been involved, and i mean in the last 40 years, with a feminist cause that was lily white, or that did not recognize the need for us to speak up for all women everywhere.
i dont even know where this comes from.
well, i mean, i do. but i dont.

eta, maybe it is a function of where i live, big city. but i come from a small town, and even back there the women i worked with had open and inclusive arms.

Think about how the movement worked to bring in Southern women to the suffrage cause.

Are there still divisions today? To some degree - yes.

But paycheck fairness in America? That's universal.

One of my first posts in the DU2 feminist group was - We Need A Paycheck Fairness Act Now.

We needed it in 2010 - and we need it now.

And it's simple - we look at the 4 main race/ethnic groups.

We take highest (caucasian women) to lowest (latina women) and we add them up and do a simple average. Every single one of us 'wins' when we work from the lower number that will result.

I really worry about women in their 50's who are approaching retirement. The time is now. They need to be able to go back and sue to make up for what they lost paying into Social Security.

My god - the Boomer explosion is coming and people can't see this? And women like me? Who DO earn well but had to FIGHT for it? I've no problem paying into SS on ALL my salary. It shores up the SS Fund for the coming storm.

A one two punch that will seriously help women who were ignored and had no one to fight for them when they entered the work force 30 years ago . . .

The time is now!

Womrn from my mom's era - they got screwed over. Now she had a husband that helped her negotiate packages - but so many did not.

We have a huge storm brewing of Baby Boomer women in particular and we've got to set it right for them.
