i cannot discuss the populist movement on DU, in GD. they state it is meta, though....

it is all the politics of our democratic party.

i can talk about our populist in hof though. meta is about GD not hof. the host that decide to lock a thread, kinda get the whole social justice issue being a part of the democratic conversation.

this is ALL politics. this is all democratic politics. this is a democratic board.

yes, i am talking about du dynamics. it is a necessary discussion, as we sit on a political discussion board, walking into 2016 elections.

it is not meta.

this is about, in my opinion, populist vs progressive, within the democratic party. we experience this on du. a democratic board. our party. our positions.

170. here is the thing, all you that immediately jumped on my ass cause i called populist...

white, man, middle/upper middle class, and our privileged, educated youth movement.

you are making your privilege more important than human lives.

that is a misstep. really. you do not want to demand privilege in front of lives. you are hurting sanders. you want to be inclusive, not exclusive and build your demographics, not shrink demographics. simple math

and over three weeks? it sits there for all to see. we watch us create this exclusive campaign of populist.

you reject whole swaths.... of votes.

87% of black vote. i mean all... go into the thread and listen to our black members tell you about being black. that might be a starter for a reality check. you can still pull the sander campaign out of limited, into unlimited..... if your choose inclusive and stop rejecting others voices.

but. you are not willing to do it.

when i point out the lives of our young black men. our girls and women. that are dying. women imprisoned because of their body. gays... without basic fuckin HUMAN rights.

and your argument is

by gosh..... 'if i do not get what i want, i am gonna show that damn democratic party. i refuse to vote democratic cause i am better than that! '

arent you saying fuck all those lives?

and also saying....

you are on the moral high ground?

this makes no sense and there is plenty of factual information to back up this trajectory that you are on, what the populist is creating here. what is being done is not gonna work. not kinda or sorta. but you are gonna piss a lot of people off. you know. those of us with sons that may be shot in the back by a police. those of us with daughters that might take a hanger to themselves. or have to register their miscarriage. or carry a rapists baby and live that for life.

do tell me how cavalier i am with lives. explain this to me.

when you state you will not vote for clinton if she wins the primary, you shun lives being lost.

personally. in real life. that is when i say. how dare you....

1. Proud to K&R, sea.

You do "get" it where many don't.

2. same here

I have been leaning more towards Sanders, but with the crap some in the Sanders group spews about if you vote for Clinton you are not a real democrat pushes me the other way. Then I get back to my happy place. I don't vote on emotion. I vote on the candidates record. That and I have a freaking year to decide.

If some care to know. I did not vote for Obama in the primaries. His vote on the telcom retroactive immunity bill told me he was more of a capitalist than people believed and he would more than likely support government spying. You can however bet your sweet patootie that I voted for him in the general election. I wasn't going to give the republicons the chance of winning the WH after baby boosh, by voting for a 3rd party candidate. And yeah. People who are saying they would not vote for the democratic nominee if it is not their unicorn that wins should have no voice on a strictly DEMOCRATIC board.

3. Of course you can discuss the populist movement in GD

Your other OP wasn't locked because it was about the populist movement.

And many (if not most) people on DU "get the whole social justice issue being a part of the democratic conversation." There are often many posts about social justice on DU.

4. those of us arguing social justice would disagree there is an understanding. one sentence.

you found one sentence out of my whole op that justified you all locking, with a huge post of politics.

yet.

a poster calling me out in the title, gets excuses.

love you woman. from my heart. and after the primaries i hope there is no hard feelings. but honestly.

not buying it

my opinion. i could be wrong.

5. when a poster titles free college ... feminists rejoice, i do not see that as understanding.

which i would hope to be the conversation and is not.

IF... they and sanders had also discussed the study that came out that day stating our freshmans girls continue to be raped, without consideration from college administration.... along with free school. then... you draw in the social.

6. That's a weak reason

There are far more blatant Meta threads everyday that aren't locked.

7. There have been 14 OPs in GD alerted for Meta since last Friday;

13 of them were locked. If far more blatant meta threads aren't locked, perhaps they weren't alerted.

8. I don't know about posts/threads being locked

But it's perfectly acceptable to discuss populism here.
The kind that refuses to acknowledge how important social justice is, and also a place to ponder how one reaches the opinion that social justice can be swept up with other issues -- almost as an afterthought, or as a patronizing acknowledgment of value while having the nerve to quote MLK

Its perfectly acceptable to discuss candidates and how they approach social justice issues from a feminist perspective. We all don't agree on the candidates here, I hope we all end up voting Dem no matter who wins the primary. For those who say to not vote at all, I would suggest a socialist site or, all too obviously for some, a libertarian one.

The candidates aren't the real problem, the system is. Fight to change the system, not against Democratic candidates.
