Bernie fails at #SayHerName

It is a troubling sign that he's still doesn't understand - I sincerely find this unsettling in someone who claims to be a socialist.

Are not women.

3. All three were victims of police brutality.

Can't say I can fault Bernie for feeling compassion for all of them.

5. Just not seeing why it's so important to jump on Bernie for something like this.

Seems a little contrived.

6. ?

Why contrived? #Sayhername is supposed to be about elevating the Black female victims of police violence, and the recent death of another woman in police custody was the impetus for the recent protest at NN. Since Bernie was there, one could safely assume he should have figured out what the protest centered on and checked his tweet.

He's got people helping him. But I don't believe he actually has a clue quite yet what it all means.

calling someone out on a typo.

It's too ridiculous to be called an argument.

12. You would think just reading the hashtag would give a clue,

and another might be the group this OP was posted in. Tone deafness is rampant on DU these days, or maybe just business as usual when it comes to women being marginalized.

Subjecting this site to mob rule has to be one of the worst decisions in the history of this website.

10. Please. You are imagining failure at this point.

This is the equivalent of bashing Mrs. Clinton for supporting marriage equality only from 2014.

The important thing here is: all candidates have the backs of women, PoC and LGBT. Casting aspersions about their commitment to these causes is to cynically play to their fear of being unheard. Surely you agree there is enough stress in this world already without unnecessary aspersions being cast?

15. I don't think I am. I think it is a symptom of something that is wrong in Sanders' campaign.

He doesn't understand the issues of a huge core demographic of the Democratic party. He clearly understands the economic issues that are front and center for the white (male) demographic, but when it comes to the issues that concern African Americans, he keeps stumbling. He really has lost touch with this core demographic, which isn't surprising, since it hasn't been a core demographic for him for the last 40 years. But if he wants to be the Democratic nominee for President, he needs a cram course asap, and he needs to understand that a big part of this core demographic sees that yeah, economic issues are important, but that they won't solve racism and sexism. Yeah, money will solve some of the problems, but Black men in Armani suits are still getting hassled, and women are still losing their reproductive rights.

Because it sounds like something he would welcome.

22. Well, not cancelling meetings with prominent Black activists would be a start.

Then he needs to hire his staff more diversely, and he must be willing to listen.

16. Yeah, it seems like the partisan supporters are incapable of being critical.

I would think that right now is the best time to point out how the candidates should do better, and tell their campaigns what issues they are failing on that their potential voters care about, rather than wait until the nominee is chosen, and see him or her stumble with huge parts of the core voters of the party. But that's just me, and those who have found their savior won't hear a word against him or her.

18. I am wondering if it matters.

I mean, a candidate isn't on his own, he is surrounded by a team. The team is there to make him aware of issues he is weak on, and either Bernie has refused to work on it, or he has no one on his team that thinks this is an important enough issue to actually engage in it. Either alternative does not bode well.

20. Yeah it pays lip service without context

I mean, why bother?

(And before I get attracked by Sanders supporters, I don't have a problem with him per se, I simply support the candidate I think is most qualified.)
