What does "Name removed" "Message auto-removed" mean?

I looked in this forum, and saw an answer to a similar question that referred to "newbie trolls." I know what a newbie is. What's a troll? It also suggested the message had been hidden, and I know what that is, but is an "auto-removed" message a form of hidden message? I don't think this message was from a "newbie," as his/her membership dated back to 2003.

Might this message have been visible for a while? So I could inquire if anyone had seen it?

Troll: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

It was probably visible for a minute or longer, so someone probably saw it. Usually those messages are horribly racist, homophobic, sexist, etc and no one wants to type it out. It could also be a personal attack on the poster who he/she responded to. Someone might Personal Message (PM) it to you.
