How to add my own photos to my id and signature?

I asked this a while back but I was never able to do it. A message said the image was too big even though it was tiny and the correct size, it was very blurred at some point when i made it smaller. I have never figured it out for the signature. There does not seem to be a way to upload images at all now for either one.

1. To upload a custom avatar, you need to be a star member (donate money to DU).

As far as a signature image, you just need to use an image hosted on the internet somewhere and copy the web address into your signature. The site software will turn almost all web image addresses into the graphic automatically (for jpg, gif, and png files). Images will also be scaled down to fit the signature image maximum size of 400 x 100 pixels by the software.

An example of an image web address that will display in a signature (or post):

That's really all you need to enter to get an image to appear. That example displays this:

You can test posting your own images here. If it works here, you should be able to just copy it into your signature.

I forgot that about the star, I was a star member the first 2-3 years. I was not able to ever post images even when I uploaded from a host and tried to add a link maybe that was why I am not sure. I tried to do that to post a picture of that fly episode.
