Whenever I come on to DU

I’m getting all these boxes that appear taking up the screen that say MacAfee total protection
And scan virus protection. Never happened before. Doesn’t happen on any other website I visit. Is anyone else having this problem?

Are you a member of DU? I know that you see a lot less junk, if you're a member.

These are large boxes that take up the entire screen. Completely obliterating the DU website. They cannot be gotten rid of by clicking the box in the corner with an s that ads have, which only makes a loud warning like sound come on.
Or idk maybe it is ads for virus protection. Never seen anything like this on any website. To get rid of them I have to log out. Then I get one log in free of this problem until it begins again.
I sent a letter to the administrator for help. Maybe they are ads idk. But it seems more like my device is going to be infected with a virus kind of thing.

I’m not sure what’s going on will resolve this situ. I never saw ads that take over the entire screen of the computer before and don’t go away unless I close down the computer.

It’s a much more pleasant browsing experience. All those ads go away.

Cheers.

It’s a warning that my PC is infected with 5 viruses.
And it says in another box, “ACTION REQUIRED!”
These boxes take up the entire screen and are not removable unless I leave DU.
I am not using a pc.
And I don’t have MacAfee installed either.
I don’t know what is going on.
I did contact the DU administrator and they don’t know.
They said it’s not normal for a pop up ad to take up the entire screen like this is doing.

that you may have installed that also installed some McAfee "trial" software unbeknownst to you, and that is now being triggered on your PC.

I know Adobe (notably Flash, although nowadays Adobe finally deprecated it, but may have been the case with other of their products like Reader) was "bundling" McAfee with their updates via a check off box that was automatically "checked" by default, and you would have had to manually uncheck it to make sure that McAffee's trial thing didn't install.

If you are on Windows 10, you may have to go through your "Settings" / "Apps" / "Apps & Features" list to see if anything "McAfee" shows up there and if so, uninstall it.

Edit - you say it's not happening on a PC - however the same issue can happen for mobile (phone or tablet) - check your apps on your device to see if McAfee is installed somewhere.
