You cannot alert on you own posts now?

The reason I ask is in the group I host this is how the Hosts can communicate with one PM (SOP violation) instead of 18 individual PM'S (in our case) if there is a problem in the thread that is not the OP.

3. What I want to know is: how the heck do you embed links.

I've noticed in MIRT's back room that when I see a bright blue number (ie: 9) that takes me directly to the post in question. It really helps a lot.
[img][/img] I can post a link to the page, no problem. But that cute little number (or words in blue) always gets my attention first. I need details ~ how do I do that???

There are two different links for posts - one to view within the entire thread (labeled Link here) and one to view by itself (labeled Permalink). Example code for this thread:

[div style="margin-left:1em;"]Links within thread:
[div style="margin-left:1em; color:#000066;"][link:http://www.democraticunderground.com/12566033#op|OP]

[link:http://www.democraticunderground.com/12566033#post3|Post #3]

Links by themselves:

Linking within a thread obviously won't always take you right to the post if it is near the bottom of the page, but it should always bring the post within the browser window. You can also add the #post<num> part to the end of the Permalinks to bring the to the top of the browser window (like this).

6. YW. I forgot to say there is a link button when you post to automate the process.

Right above where you enter your Message text, there is a row of buttons for bold, italic, underscore, etc. The one labeled link inserts the proper code for you. There are two ways to use it: type/paste the text in your post you wish to make into a link, select the text to highlight it, hit the link button, and type/paste the web address in the prompt window; or hit the link button first, type/paste the web address in the prompt window, then type/paste the text, and hit the /link button to complete.

There are a couple of issues with the link tag - mostly certain characters make the links not work or even disappear. I outlined the problems I know of in [div class="footer" style="padding: 0px; margin: 0px; display:inline;" title="Yes, this is a link."]this post.
